Extraordinary story telling with its twists, characters, action and wonderful artwork the highlight of all. Maika rocks again in the second volume as she hardens herself against everything without expression of any weakness or softness. And loving kippa a lot!!

The art work is amazing! I can’t get over the graphic art in this series. Kudos to the illustrator, Sana Takeda!

The plot and world building is getter better. I still feel like it jumps around too much with the plot and characters. Going back into past tense with Maika Halfwolf as a child does help though on understanding the plot.

At times, I get confused with the world building and what is going down. I feel that if I get more information about her mother, this will help.

BUT... it is getting easier to understand this world and the complications with all of the species and wars.
I love the multiple tailed cats that are wise professors! That’s a really cool idea for a graphic novel.

Monstress, Vol. 2: The Blood had a pirate theme in this one. Damn it, any time there’s pirates in a plot, I’m all in matey!!

The art continues to be stellar in this series, though book two was something I read more in hope of attaching myself to one of the characters than out of actual enjoyment.

I'm always kind of a hard sell on comics. If it's a character I adore, I will read some real crap to get more of them. If it's a character I'm not attached to yet, though, then I am the hardest sell.

Take Hawkeye. I adore the Fraction run now, but it took me the better part of a book and a half to get attached enough to willingly read more. And that is a damn good series, ask just about anyone.

Maybe a lot of my problem with Monstress is from the writing. There are pages and pages of exposition in each chapter, with splash pages in between issues of cats literally lecturing on the lore of the series. There's just such a disconnect that I end up reading the speech bubbles than going back to admire the art like it's some illustration stuck beside the text. The thing, though, is that this isn't a novel or picture book, it's a comic book; this is the medium that most embodies the old adage "show don't tell," so show me what's going on. You've got a dang amazing artist--COLABORATE with her.

There's so much potential in this series. Please don't waste it.

Superb sequel! Monstress Vol. 2 continues on as being one of the most visually striking and exhilarating graphic novels to come around this year. Brimming with a fascinating, compulsively readable story and filled with a ton of bold, beautifully rendered characters, this impressive read accomplishes a whole lot in its 150 pages, while setting you up for all the awesomeness yet to follow! Loved, loved, loved this!

Gorgeous art. Unique world.

love this series

This second volume had a much stronger, intriguing ending than the first. Like the past volume, I enjoy how the panels and speech bubbles are used to convey different emotions and characters. All in all enjoyable.
