Loved seeing his side of the story, made me love him even more. Great book :)
This time, the end broke my heart. But it broke me completly.
I didn’t love that it was same story as the first book in the series but the further I got along in his side of the story the more I understood the need to understand his perspective. This quote destroyed me and I hope one day we can all conquer our monsters.
“I was scared to go to bed and scared to wake up and scared to take a bath and scared to speak to you. I wasn’t a little girl afraid of monsters in her closet or under her bed. I was terrified of the monster that was supposed to love me! You were supposed to be protecting me from the people like you!”

Great book! I love Colleen Hoover but I will say I don't really like reading a book that is really the same story just in a different point of view! But it was a great read
I know a lot of people didn't seem to like this book or thought it was a waste of time or an example or an author cheating at writing, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't always like when it's just the same dialogue repeated over, but I think it was necessary to show Holder's point of view. I liked that it showed what Holder was going through and made he didn't appear creepy like he did in the first book. This book really made me sympathize with Holder for all he has carried around and I really ended up liking his character. I think this book gave some insight to his life and showed us that he wasn't just sitting around stalking Sky and it explains his reasoning for everything. I liked seeing him pour his feelings out to Les, finding/ reading her note to him, and having him talk to his mom about everything. I think I enjoyed this more than the first book because it was less intense and shows you the internal struggle Holder is dealing with.
I really liked reading Holder’s POV compared to Skys in hopeless. I liked the ending and how it was more than the ending of hopeless. It was also nice that the triggering events weren’t mentioned as much
Colleen Hoover has a thing for releasing essentially the same book but just a different POV, but can honestly say I think I like this one slightly more than the first one?? Quick read and kept me reading.
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just had to come on here and see if anyone else noticed/got the sunshine and sawdust reference?
This is a must read, along with Hopeless of course, if you like this genre. I also really liked Regretting You.

Before I say anything about this book, I want to preface by saying THIS IS HOPELESS FROM HOLDER'S POINT OF VIEW. I have seen too many reviews complaining about this so in case you don't follow Colleen on any social networking sites or have been living under a rock, please realize this before reading it.
Now, just because this was Hopeless from Holder's POV, did not at all take away from the fact that Colleen is a brilliant writer and able to tell you the same story, from a different POV and make it almost seem like you were reading it for the first time. I have always wanted to have book amnesia and read some of my favorite books for the first time over again and I can honestly say that this is as close as I have gotten so far.
There were new details, new characters and new plot lines that you were not introduced to in Hopeless. And there was a whole new set of feelings while reading it. For me, it was almost as emotional as the first book and while I "lived" Dean Holder in the first book, I "LOVED" him in this book. But as with any rewrite, and as brilliant as even Colleen is, you just can't erase from my memory what happened in Hopeless so I don't feel that this book affected me as much.
To summarize my feelings...I loved Dean Holder...I loved hearing Les's story...I loved Daniel...I love LOSING HOPE...and I love Colleen. And although this book is not necessary to read if you've already read Hopeless because it was such a wonderful story with it's own HEA, I truly do recommend it as a way to fill in some of the pieces that you didn't know were even missing.
Keep on writing Colleen, you have truly found your calling!
