The gang is back for a whole new wild and crazy adventure full of mischief, fun, and scare bears. Readers of the first book will really enjoy this newest offering in this series. As if you did not think you could fall in love with Rose, Marek, Malachy, and Cade anymore; you would be wrong.

In the first book, readers were just really getting to know everyone. Yet in this book, the relationships have been established and therefore all there is left is to just sit back and enjoy the adventure.

Young readers will really enjoy this series of books. As will adults like me. In fact, these books can be truly enjoyed as a family. I have to tell you that I hope to never cross paths with any Scare Bears.

Taking place after the events of Legend of the Storm Sneezer (Rose gets kidnapped and taken to an asylum for angels with unstable magic, makes friends, and saves the world from a hoard of ghosts along the way), Rose and the Blackouts, a group of asylum patients and orderlies tasked with finding the mythical creatures from Blackout’s Tales, are given an assignment—to wish the Wishing Mist out of existence to prevent anyone from using it for ill. But things don’t go exactly as planned as the Blackouts wake up in a town called Mapleton, where one bizarre event after another takes place, all leading up to a hostile takeover by teddy bears and hellhounds.

Legend of the Rainbow Eater is quite the sequel. And dare I say, Sfirlea really outdid herself on this one! While the plot was somewhat complicated near the end and took a moment for me to puzzle out, it was certainly a wild and enjoyable ride. All the events ended on such a twisted cliffhanger, I have to know more! It was similar to the ending of Now You See Me 2. Somewhat confusing, a bit crazy, and leaves you saying, What!?

As always, Rose and Marek are one of my favorite Middle Grade duos, with their very steady and interesting friendship. Rose and her odd habit of licking magical things, and Marek with his steady, solid attitude and very rational fear of squonks. I did enjoy how the characters developed throughout the story, especially Aiden and Sephone. Though, in my opinion, Sephone could use a little bit more of humble pie, if you know what I mean. But one can only change their nature so much.

The dialogue felt so natural. I mean, have you ever read a book where the characters talking to each other feels a tad forced in some scenes and slightly ridiculous in others? Yeah, there’s none of that in this book. Every character has their own unique voice, and it all flows so naturally to leave me a tad jealous of Sfirlea’s amazing skill.

Overall, Legend of the Rainbow Eater is a funny, wild, crazy, and entertaining story of friendship, family, and faith in the impossible.

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Spoilers for book 1 ahead!

Rose and the other Blackouts are assigned to wish the Wishing Mist out of existence, taking the will-o’-the-wisps with it. Their mission brings them to a town hosting a maple syrup festival (to Marek’s delight!) However, bodies are going missing from the funeral parlor, giant squonks are lurking in the woods, and animatronic teddy bears are out for blood. Luckily, their future selves are there to assist, and the will-o’-the-wisps are being somewhat helpful. But as they get closer to the Wishing Mist, Rose and Marek start to wonder if getting rid of the will-o’-the-wisps is really the right thing to do. After that, they were the ones who brought Rose and Marek together. Are they really as evil as everyone seems to think?

Rose and the gang are back for another adventure! This book is jam-packed with action, mysteries, and suspense! It’s also hilarious; Rose and Marek are practically comedians as well as Blackouts! Sketchy characters, plot twists, and near-death experiences kept me turning the pages until I reached the end!

The world-building was amazing once again! I thought the first book had some crazy world-building, but Legend of the Rainbow Eater was even crazier! Picture Five Nights at Freddy’s meets Gravity Falls. Sounds great, right? It was!

Can I have a paradox of myself bring me a copy of book 3 from the future? I’m not sure I can wait that long! I am very much looking forward to more adventures with these characters!

I definitely would recommend this series! I’m sure it would be a great read for middle grade readers and up! If you haven’t already checked out book 1 in this series, you should go ahead and grab a copy!

Rating: 5/5: perfect sequel to the perfect book!
-
-The quirky legend herself is back and she’s edger, she’s spunkier, and she’s more talented then ever- honestly this book was amazing!

-The writing-

-The dialogue guys- THE DIALOGUE! I was laughing out loud during both these books!

-The authors’ writing has improved tremendously, which says a lot, because the writing in the first one was already really good. Seriously, Kristina is so clever, she will charm you with her humor and wit whether you want her to or not, I’m sure of it.

-The story/plot/characters-

-Oh my gosh! I want to adopt all these characters! They now live in my mind rent free whenever I need a good laugh!

-The friendship! Oh the friendship! I will never stop loving the friendship elements in these books! I will protect Rose and Marek with my life!! Don’t you dare hurt them! (Ahem)

-I love the scar bears, I want plushies! Lol
