3.18 AVERAGE

Liked it, there were some nice descriptions and a compelling exploration of identity. But it was no GONE GIRL (another conniving scheming murderer who uses her femininity to dupe men). The pacing was much slower and the characters not as compelling.

George Foss lives a relatively boring life as an accountant for a literary magazine. As a college freshman, he fell in love with a dangerous girl, and one day, she comes back into his life. This is the story of what happens. 4 stars doesn't really give do this book justice - it's more like 4.5 stars, and only because it's not as pitch-perfect as his latest novel. I did very much enjoy this book, however, and Swanson is definitely one of my new favorite authors. I can't wait to see what he's going to do next. This story is a thriller, but it's a quiet thriller, character-centered, and almost a love story at its core.

Rubbish! Really disappointing, not interesting or gripping at all. Glad I read A Kind Worth Killing first!

Ends on a cliffhanger; no sequel

2.5 stars. If I had read this as my first Peter Swanson book, I wouldn't have read another. I hated the narrator, and also didn't like the descriptive words of people's appearances throughout the story, as I felt they were kind of degrading. The story itself was also pretty unbelievable.

This book was entertaining among the many poorly written mystery/thriller books today. Many unexpected twists and surprises keep you intrigued but was rather disappointed with the ending.

I charged through the first 100 or so pages with intrigue, expecting there to be more shock twists and all manner of things I didn't see coming. But sadly, that wasn't the case. The main surprises were revealed quite early on and everything else just seemed to fall flat. Okay so there were some twists/developments in the latter part, but nothing that surprised me; mostly very predictable sadly. I also wasn't keen on the ending (I won't post spoilers though)

2 stars for me

The Story follows middle aged George Foss who, since college has thought about nothing else but his college girlfriend Liana Dector who faked her identity and disappeared. One day she unexpectedly turns up in a local bar asking for his help and George just cant refuse; sending his life into unexpected twists and turns.

"The Girl With A Clock For A Heart" first attracted me with its intriguing short blurb and the talk of an exciting twist in the story. I however was greatly disappointed. After recently reading Mary Kubica's "Good Girl" which I thoroughly enjoyed I was in the mood for another thought provoking thriller and picked this book up at a cheap price at my local supermarket. The story-line was gripping and the mysterious Liana and her tumultuous past interested me. In spite of this I gave the book 3 stars mainly down to the ending. As I explained there are a lot of reviews suggesting an unpredictable twist which meant throughout the story I was continually trying to think up what the possible twist could involve. Without giving a spoiler, i'll just say that the supposed 'twist' was greatly disappointing. Leaving me feeling slightly empty.

I definitely suggest giving this book a read, it's an easy reading thriller however try to go into the story without any preconceptions.

I liked it, even with that ending! Because sometimes a non-ending is the better way to finish a book.

This is my second Peter Swanson book and while less good than The Kind Worth Killing, it still satisfied.
