A cliffhanger of sorts. David Webb knows Carlos' identity but it is stuck somewhere is his subconscious. Obviously I may have to read the next book.
I had the good fortune to be able to read this before I saw the (rather mediocre) movie, and i really enjoyed this book.
Definitely a page turner, though a bit graphic in a few parts.

So I am late to the Jason Bourne party. With the new movie coming out... All the old ones started appearing on TV, and I decided to watch them all in one binge before seeing the newest in the theater. And OMG, they were so good. So I decided to start reading the book... And boy am I ever late to that party! My mother read these books in the 80s... And the references there were overwhelmingly: pay phones, CB radios, Vietnam vets, slide shows, etc. So while I loved the movies with its updated espionage, I don't think I want a trip down Cold War memory lane and may not continue with this series. If there are any amazing current day spy books out there, please tell me what they are!

Edge of your seat thriller. The books are much more in the psychological thriller vein, and I enjoyed seeing what made Bourne tick. Some fairly horrible things happen to him (worse than in the movies), and the US government does not exactly come out smelling like a rose. Realistic and a gripping read.
A fun (if dated) action book about a agent who has lost his memory while on a mission to defeat the world's top assassin.
Don't try to compare this to the Matt Damon movie at all. Except for the basic outline of how the story starts, there is little resemblance between the two.
The story (particularly as an audiobook) is quite engaging. There are, of course, things that could have been done better and the love story was a bit far-fetched. If you can overlook these issues, this book does a good job of keeping verisimilitude and the timings in it are realistic (in contrast to many action movies).
Is it great literature? No. Is it a fun diversion and for that I would recommend it.

Liked the movie a lot better. Far to long for me. Thought this audio would never end. Even the narration by Scott Brick, usually one of my faves, was subpar.
Comment: why are all thriller cover sleeves so unspeakably ugly? Embarrassment about carrying this monstrosity round was probably my #1 reason for not reading any Robert Ludlum.
Biggest surprise was the high frequency of soppy kissy kissy moments.

I was surprised by how much I was drawn in by this book. I liked the movie, and had been told that it was very different from the book- so had assumed that the book wasn't very good. I found it to be a similar concept but much more complex and gripping. Worth a read.
