All I wrote on Goodreads was "AWWW SO CUTE!" So here is what I remember nearly a year later.
I loved this book, not as much as Legends and Lattes but there were aspects I liked more. Mainly the challenges we go through with our main character (it's been a year I don't remember her name). Picking this up feel like revisiting your family's go to vacation spot alone as an adult. It's nostalgic with welcoming faces. I was also surprised by the fight scenes, I've read a few cozy reads and the ones that do include fights usual skip them or rush through them but these action scenes were VERY well written.

I could read a hundred books about Viv acclimating to a little homey life. But I also really want to read about her mercenary adventures. This book had a lot more action than Legends & Lattes and you do get to see a bit of that side of Viv which I loved and it made me want to read more about them tbh. I'd honestly love it if Viv had her own epic fantasy series lmao. Having said that this was very sweet.
I do love the cozy fantasy vibe and I loved reading Viv and her tiny lady pals chilling around a bookshop. Loved Satchel the homunculus and Potroast the gryphet. Thought Varine was a cool villain. The epilogue made me VERY happy. Overall a very cute, fast read.
Also, since playing BG3, I just keep hearing Viv's voice as Karlach's...which I'm not upset about.

Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree – 4.5⭐
I went into this book a little hesitant since I didn’t really enjoy the first one, but I’m glad I gave it another try. This story felt warmer and more grounded, and I found myself connecting with the characters right away. Fern, the bookshop owner, stood out the most, she was such a fun and memorable character that I couldn’t help but root for her.
The pacing worked well, and the mix of quiet, slice-of-life moments with bits of action kept things moving without ever dragging. What surprised me most was how much heart this book had. It made me laugh at times, and at others it gave me that cozy, comforting feeling you want from a book set around a bookshop.
Overall, this ended up being a very enjoyable read, much more than I expected after my experience with the first book. It definitely left me glad I didn’t give up on the series.

I enjoyed this book as much as Legends & Lattes!
I loved all the characters in this book, and I especially liked that it was kind of like Viv’s origin story. I could see how she came to be the person she was in L&L because of events like this story. I thought the friendships she made in this story were lovely, especially with Fern & Potroast. I also really enjoyed the fact that this book had kind of a mix of action and cozy moments, I think it was more nicely balanced than L&L in that respect.
I’m only hesitant to give it the full 5 stars because I think the romance side plot was lacking (exactly as Maggie mentions in her review). Either give me a romance subplot that really goes for it, or leave it out. I get Viv knew she wasn’t staying, so she was prepared to not commit to anyone, but still.
