2.5 stars. Such an odd book, I found certain characters very compelling and it was hard to put down. I just felt the miniaturist mystery aspect was a huge let down. It ruined the book for me. I do find my self still thinking about it though a few days after finishing it.

An interesting, beautifully written book. It took me a little while to get into, and at times, I felt the writing was a bit too grave, but the story is so unexpected and the descriptions make you feel like you really are in Amsterdam. Highly recommend for lovers of historical fiction and unsolved mysteries.
