I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series because Crombie definitely is getting better with each book. I accidentally started with #5, so I know how good she's headed toward!

Very much enjoying this series. Reading them in order, and enjoying the development of the main characters quite a lot.

I think part of the reason I have been enjoying this series so much is because of the audiobook narrator's comforting British accent. Honestly, the mysteries themselves are pretty standard - enjoyable but not necessarily memorable. The reader's voice raises them a notch for me. I do also enjoy the two lead characters and the subtle spark between them.

These have been comfort reads for me and I already have the next one on hold.

Unfortunately this became a dull read for me.

Which is really a shame, because for the first 30 pages or so this had some very interesting characters and history introduced, but shortly after that, a dull investigation puttered along for about 40 pages before things got interesting again. And then it got dull again.

I muscled through this because I was still curious as to whodunit, and because it's a short novel.
Ultimately I sped read to the end because I was antsy get into another book.

Looking back on my review for All Shall Be Well, I'm struck my how much I enjoyed that. And thinking back, it was well warranted: that was a very good read. And to say that I had read somewhere that the series improves over time makes me wonder where I had read that. Because I've been googling Best Mystery Series and this doesn't come up on any hits.

Anyways, it was an ok read I guess, just such a letdown after the previous one. I'm not sure I'll return to the series.

This was an interesting addition to the series. It felt like the author had decided to write a murder mystery with Agatha Troy as a suspect.

I enjoyed this one too. I am starting to binge read these. I like that Crombie really does develop each mystery independently and yet allows us to tie together the story with our main characters. Nice cold, rainy read.
