Marie Johnson has written a new series, the Oil Knights, and I am here for it! I loved A Reckless Memory, I think it might’ve been one of the strongest book she’s written. Seriously, an excellent introduction to a new series. My favorite type of series are interconnected, standalone, family, member, book series, and I want a book for all of the brothers right now. Additionally, I love it when a spin off series has characters from the original series pop in. I cannot wait to read more in this universe.
Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My first book by Marie Johnson and I loved this it! A small country ranch town is the setting for a book not only about a second chance at love but about strength and standing up for yourself. The book opens at Aggie and Ansen's wedding where we learn about a major development regarding the and she flees for good. Fast forward 10 years later and Aggie has done much of what she wanted to accomplish but needs help running her animal rescue. Enter Ansen. She gives him a second chance in more than one way. A lot happens to Aggie and her siblings, including a major family loss, while Ansew grows closer to his. I wasn't sure the ending was going to be pulled off, but I couldn't be happier with how it ended. Loved how Ansen supported Aggie as she was, a strong, independent woman and didn't try to change or overpower her. All of the siblings were great in different ways, and I can’t wait to read about Cody next.
This was such a great story! The writing style was great and the characters were wonderful! The beginning made me so sad for Aggie but I think what happened in the beginning was good for Aggie and Ansen! It helped shape who they are and built the character’s beautifully! I almost feel like this book was Heartland meets tame Yellowstone. It is definitely one I will recommend to others!

This was a great story about forgiveness, getting a second chance at love and reconciling with family.
Aggie, the baby of the family, just wants to be treated like everyone else. She has dreams of working on her family's ranch and having the same responsibilities as her brothers. She falls in love with an amazing man that works on their ranch and they are to be married soon. On her wedding day, she finds out her almost husband has been paid to marry her so she stays on the ranch, but would never really have control of her own life. She bolts, leaves her childhood home and makes a life for herself.
Ten years later, she hears that her almost husband, Ansen, is in some trouble and he can't find a job. She knows he's good at what he does, so she hires him to work at her rescue for measly pennies as revenge, and he agrees.
Ansen has been drug through the mud and rumors (that aren't true) about how he treats animals have spread like wildfire and he can't get a job. He hears from "Christie" about a job at a rescue and he immediately accepts because he has no other options. As it turns out, "Christie" is his almost wife, Aggie and she is out for revenge. He doesn't run when he finds out it's her. All of his feelings for her come back. He wants to prove to her that what he did ten years ago isn't the person he is today and wants to try and be with her. She isn't ready to open her heart back up yet. She thought that he never loved her, but he did and just made a mistake.
Things get very complicated between Aggie, her family and Ansen. Ansen gets the chance to have his dream but will that dream derail all that him and Aggie built this time around?

This was my first book by this author and it will certainly not the last.
I loved this story, so much cause the FMC was strong and don’t let go. She’s looking for her dad to notice her while she’s trying to do what she want in her life. Ten years has past since Aggie runaway from her home town, now she’s fierce and not the naive girl she used to be when she called off her wedding. Now, after a drunken night with her sister-in-law, she ended up sending a email to her former futur husband, Ansen.
What I loved the most in this story was the fact, that for once the MMC was not only broken by his life, but also not confident in himself. It's really unsual and I enjoyed it. He’s trying to be a better man even if he have to work with Aggie, his ex. Between erasing the past to start over, reconnected with family, Ansen's trying to do everything in the right way, for not failing once again.
What I also loved about this book, it’s when there are others members of their family involve, it add more fun in it, but also sadness and anger sometimes. It’s hard to be in a family when you’re surrunded by only brothers, and not just one, but four… (I know it too well, I have three older brothers).
The two characters share something special and their love are undeniable.
It was such a sweet, funny, beautiful and a great story, easy to read and well witten, so I recommended it.
A big thank you for this author @mariejohnsstonwriter. Than you for trusting me and sending me your book. I’m so glad and grateful for all of this. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I loved this one!
10 years ago Ansen and Aggie were getting married when she overhears that he only dated her because her father offered him money. After she learns the truth, she runs away from her family and Ansen. Now, he’s down on his luck and Aggie wants revenge. She hires him to work on her new animal rescue for next to nothing by giving him a fake name.
He realized that he messed up and wants Aggie back! He has to tread carefully to earn her trust.
He shows up to his brother’s home town and gets to know his family.
I really loved the second chance Romance. Their communication was great and the spice was so good

✨I fled minutes before my wedding when I learned my fiancée was being paid to marry me. Ten years, too many crappy exes, and one drunken decision later, I’m now his boss.✨
This was my first book by the author and I enjoyed it. I have come to love second chance romances! Aggie is such a badass! She’s one of my top favorite FMC! She was witty and independent and knew her worth.
I did not like Ansen at first but that was obvious given the circumstances! As the story goes on he truly redeems himself! I liked seeing the growth that both Aggie and Ansen went through. It has been 10 years since they had seen each other and they were different people.
I loved getting to know each of her brothers and their issues through Aggie’s POV and I hope we get to read more on them!

✨Small Town Romance
✨Forced Proximity
✨Boss/Employee
