4 stars ,I was actually not expecting myself to enjoy this book as much as I have .Sometimes I´ve found Tuppence rather annoying.I must admit the ending took me by surprise because I was so conviced it was someone that when they announced it was another person I was like:What the hell is this all about?! For those who are wandering, the surprise factor is guessing who Mr Brown is before the author tells you.I enjoyed this book way more than I did when I first read it and I think it is because I´ve found a way of speed-read that implements my reading velocity considerably.Anyway,I recommend the book althougth in comparison to others ,it cannot hold a candle.

I wasn't very impressed with this book. I've read others by Agatha Christie, but this "mystery" was lackluster and unsatisfying. I think she tried to go too big with this one, involving the government and foreign relations (to a degree).
Tuppence and Tommy are interesting, spunky characters who have a lot of heart, and although I enjoyed their quick wit and the way their minds jumped to conclusions, the rest of it simply didn't grab me. I think I'll stick with Poroit for future Christie endeavors.

This book was more of an adventure than the other Christie novels I've read, with a faster pace and more action but less contemplation of clues than her other works. Set in post WWI London, it is the first adventure of Tommy & Tuppence as they become involved in international intrigue as a result of discussing the creation of the Young Adventurers , Ltd as a way to make some money in postwar London. The "Secret Adversary" of the title isn't revealed until the end and the fast pace of the novel keeps the plot moving along in spite of our heroes making it out of some scrapes with a little too much ease.

Book 2 in my complete Agatha Christie read through!
I know I read this one in my teens, and I hazily remembered parts of the twist/reveal, but kept second guessing myself, so in a way I was still surprised. Even if I'd remembered the ending perfectly, I think I still would have enjoyed revisiting this one, and all the fun character interactions. Tommy and Tuppence are some of my favorite Agatha Christie characters!
