This was a really wholesome book. The author ‘Sarah Turner’ certainly knows how to write about family and all the complexities within that unit.
There was nothing cheesy about this novel, the storyline was strong & had many layers to it. The grief & suffering was well balanced against the consistent light humour….usually down to little Ted. So, it never felt like a depressing read despite its overall plot.
I loved Beth’s character, trying to navigate her way through her 30s, it felt relatable. Her messy, chaotic personality was loveable because she was giving it her all looking after her niece & nephew. Her & Jorys relationship was endearing, as was her & Alberts. The best friendships can appear in the hardest of times.
The ending was open ended but, it didn’t feel like a cop out. It felt right to leave it to the reader to choose in this instance.
Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Medical content, Grief, Car accident, Death of parent, Injury/Injury detail

Quite liked that it was open at the end.
It was sad but hopeful story. I loved Ted and Albert! So cute

Overview: I don't even know where to start. This...book...is...amazing. The end. No...it deserves more than that so I'll do my best! Omg...Beth is basically me before I was married and had a baby. I could relate to her on every level even her 90s boy band crushes. This book is hilarious yet also the most real and heart breaking book. The times when poor Beth struggles with Ted the toddler had me bursting into laughter and then the next page made my heart ache.
Good points: Everthing! I loved Beth and Ted and Albert (the old man next door). Ted is basically my own toddler and the cutest little boy. Every single word is perfect and relatable. I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoyed it and reading it with other women was really fun too. Even the mother, who I felt was very harsh on Beth, grew and learned the truth in the end. The ending was lovely and yes, it does leave you hanging, but I personally love those types of endings because it encourages the reader to make up their own ending.
Not so good points: Not one single thing!
Seriously....READ...THIS...BOOK! The easiest 5 stars I've given this year.

Was hooked from the start. It had beautifully written characters who have their flaws but are entirely lovable. It also explores themes of romance, friendship and family. Oh, I just completely fell in love with this.
Wonderful emotional and heartwarming read.
Beth lives at home with her parents, living one day to the next with no plan or responsibilities and a string of jobs she quickly tires of and quits. Adding car trouble to the hangover she acquired from the previous night's outing with life-long best friend Jory, she decides to call in sick.
Later that morning she turns her phone back on to a barrage of missed calls and messages, and receives the news that she is going to have to move into her sister's house and take over looking after her 14 year old niece and 3 year old nephew while her sister is recovering in hospital, which could be a lengthy process.
We follow Beth as she learns how to cope with the new responsibility, and the changing relationships with the people around her.
Heartbreaking, funny but beautifully uplifting read.
