Love the art. Boring try hard plot that has been done before (I robot, you Jane) best part was the 2 page plot setup for the next angel arc. Realllllly hoping this gets better

I thought this was a great start for the Angel series. I like how we get to see a little bit about Angel's past and how he is trying to help in the present. This reminds me of the tv character Angel and I like seeing him before he came to Sunnydale. I can not wait to read the next in the series.

Overall, I like this start to Angel. I wasn't sure what they were going to do with the books running concurrently with Buffy, as the show was about Angel separating from Buffy and taking on LA. But I like the intermingling of Angel's angst at his past with pushing forward.

I also like the characters currently introduced. We have Lilith who was not in the OG show, but I like the idea of Angel having someone with muscle backing him, especially someone who is still terrifying at the core. We also get Fred (YAY) and Gunn is following shortly behind. My Angel crew is coming, and I am happy about that.

What I didn't love was the demon in this story. I think it has a lot to do with the book I just finished and my just exhaustion at
allegories for how evil our phone is and demons being in the phone. Granted, Angel does this less so than the other book I read, but
I'm still hoping it doesn't stay so cliche.

Overall, I cannot wait to see where this is going next.

4.5 stars. This volume stays very true to the tone and feel of the show, with enough of a fresh approach that it feels like it felt watching Angel for the first time. Artwork is beautiful and tonally perfect. Looking forward to the next one!

I am a major fan of Buffy and Angel to this day years beyond years later, so as no surprise I loved this graphic novel. I love the world, the story line and jumping timelines was great. The art is incredibly beautiful the color the likeness to the main characters. Fabulous!

still not an Angel fan yet. Maybe the reboot will change things for me, but the brooding is already getting on my nerves.
