I picked this book up after all slow read and didn’t intend to stay up till 1am reading it especially when I’m working in the morning; but I did.
I couldn’t put it it down for anything. Milly Johnson had me hooked from page one. It’s a light hearted, funny read, though a little predictable at times I still had to read to the last page. So on to my next adventure also by Milly Johnson- the Yorkshire pudding club

Afternoon Tea at the Sunflower Cafe was an absolute joy to read. I've read quite a few of this authors books and all have been wonderful and this one is certainly no different.

We meet an array of characters, some are really wonderful characters and there's a few not so nice ones also. My favourite ones had to be Connie, Della and Cheryl. They are the main characters but I loved all three of them for all different reasons. They are all fighting their own battles but they certainly don't let the problems define them. Della I think I was slightly scared of but she has a heart of gold underneath that cold exterior and Connie and Cheryl are just both the nicest characters you could imagine. I for one would love to be working alongside them all.

Jimmy Diamond is quite the player and to start with I didn't really like him but for some reason even the not so nice characters I ended up feeling quite sorry for them. Not sure whether I was supposed to or not but then I have always been a bit of a softy.

Brandon Locke, the master chocolatier, I may be slightly shallow but how can you not fall for someone that makes chocolate for a living? It would be my dream job, well to at least taste them which the lucky Connie gets to do. Chocolate does feature quite a lot in this book so don't be surprised if it doesn't leave you wanting to rush out to buy a big box of chocolates whilst reading it.

I really enjoyed the storyline and after reading Afternoon Tea at the Sunflower Cafe I certainly have a new found respect for a lot of cleaners out there.

Milly Johnson has created yet another fantastic read which will leave you feeling all warm and gooey inside. Loved it and can't recommend it highly enough.

Connie and Jimmy Diamond have been married for 24 years. He runs a successful cleaning business and she was a stay-at-home mother and carer for their elderly parents until their deaths.

Jimmy's right hand woman is Della, she's been in love with him ever since she started working for him and hopes he'll one day come to realise that he loves her, not the floozies he meets up with, and certainly not his fat, snooty wife Connie. Then Jimmy forces Della to cancel a day's holiday, one where she had plans, because he is playing golf with his old buddy and the office junior Ivanka is off sick. That one decision sets off a train of events. Della discovers that Jimmy has been having an affair with Ivanka ever since she joined the firm, he's bought her expensive jewellery, a sports car and taken her away to swanky hotels and posh restaurants, Della even finds a receipt for an engagement ring. Utterly betrayed, Della scoops up all he evidence she's found in JImmy's locked office drawer and hightails it off to dump it on Connie.

Connie has spent her married life living close to hand-to-mouth, she drives a clapped out car, the windows are drafty and she hasn't had a holiday in years. To find out that her husband has been squirreling away money in secret accounts, taking his mistress to Michelin-starred restaurants and getting his office manager to buy her chocolates as a sop to his conscience is utterly devastating.

Connie and Della cook up a delightful revenge, they will set up their own cleaning company and steal away Jimmy's clients and cleaners. The plot reminds me very much of the old film Carry on Cabby where Hattie Jacques does something similar to the philandering Sid James.

This was a great read, funny, charming, with a little bit of suspense and some light supernatural goings-on. I am a great fan of Milly Johnson's writing, if you like [a:Katie Fforde|86097|Katie Fforde|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1270774921p2/86097.jpg] or [a:Debbie Johnson|20198721|Debbie Johnson|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png], then I'm sure you would enjoy this.
