When I finished enchantress returns I found a review someone wrote where they said that they hate Chris colters sense of humor bc it feels like he’s constantly reminding you that he’s witty. Now that I’m done the series I think that his humor is just technically funny, you can tell he really wants to be charming. When he set up jokes I felt like I was watching him set them up brick by brick and when the punchline came it seemed like everything from before was just written in service of that. Not that it’s not funny because I definitely laughed, but just that I see what they mean. Because when compared to someone like Rick riordan, i can really see a difference. Riordan is like your funny friend telling you a story, and colfer is like a stand up comedian. You can tell hes TRYING to make you laugh, and it’s casual of a set up.
I also saw this in Chris colfer in an interview of him from when he published his 20th book, and when asked how he was so prolific he responded like “I have many hacks. Like for example, if you turn around on the toilet the back becomes a table.” I saw that one being set up, like he planned that joke or told it a million times.

I loved this one! When I skimmed it earlier, I wasn't sure about it, but it was as amazing as the five before it!! The ending was emotional — sad and happy at the same time. I actually almost cried a couple of times. I loved how Chris Colfer went into old age with the twins at the beginning and end, and how Conner's granddaughter found the original Fairy Godmother's storybook, just like Alex. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge . . . guess what happens?). Great job with this series, Chris Colfer! I no longer have doubts about loving The Land of Stories!!
After years of trying to get through this series, I have finally finished it! The ending was so sweet and wholesome, I couldn't have hoped for any better. This would be a great series for younger children and I wish I had read it when the books first came out, however, I think I appreciate it more now. As a child, the magic this story relates would have had my mind reeling for months.

I think the ending epilogue is very cute and appropriate full circle moment. Love the teaching moment on perfectionism.

This wouldn't be a great stand-alone book, but it's a satisfying end to the series.
