Read for #owlsreadathon2020 Ancient Runes

I was a bit afraid it would be old school bodice-ripping But it's not!!It's funny, set in it's time period without having some wierd stereotypes and the chemistry is sizzling and Kristen is awesome without being a harpy! Read it in one night too.

Royce is super reluctant to touch her at first and throughout the book, it's Kristen who drives the narrative. My one major gripe was the issue of the chains and Royce being a stubborn untrusting douche about them. My other issue was the ending parts felt a little abrupt. But none of this took away from my utter enjoyment of reading this book and dang it was so much fun.

This is my first captive/captor romance set in this time frame and I absolutely love it! I didn't realize that I enjoyed this trope so much until I looked back in the other books that I read so far and as well as this one and oh man let me tell you! I am obsessed with this trope, I might even read the first book of this series and more GAAHHH!

I love how Royce is overprotective of Kristen, whether he knows it or not he is absolutely taken by her at the moment he realized that he is actually a she LOL. I love Kristen's personality, she is so headstrong, courageous, and determined, all of the qualities which Royce begins to love as well and fall for her. Love it!

The one thing for sure I didn't like about this book is when people are slapping Kristen's butt all the time, no matter what kind of relationship they may have with her whether it's their cousins, uncle or what have you, I found it disturbing. But I get it you know, the year this was published, at the time people didn't regard women's consent as important if anything this just goes to show that books like these have changed now especially in the literature that we read today. Although the storyline is good, it also sets an example of the past and ways for authors and readers alike to take notice of the change of time and learn from this.

I read this book long, long ago and then downloaded it again for my Kindle. I'd forgotten every bit of the story in the years in between, but I still loved it when I read it again. In some ways it's old school romance, in others (especially the sensuality level) I think Ms. Lindsey was ahead of her time (as she was in writing futuristic romance!). She was a treasured author for me for a long time and now I remember why. :)

Kristen has to be one of the best female characters to ever have been written. If you are tired of the "damsel in distress" trope and are looking for the one where the damsel can damn well save herself, this where it's at!

I really enjoyed this addition of the series. I liked Kristen's bluntness and how it always seemed to put Royce on the defensive.

I'm really surprised with book! I was a little afraid I was not going to like it because sadly some romance novel don't age well. But this one did, at least in my opinion. The heroine is not a timid wallflower (though there was the case that she's not like any other girls), but she's a perfect match to the hero. I'll be checking more from this author who sadly passed before her time.

Kickass viking heroine? Who decides she's going to jump the hero's bones because she really really wants to? Oh double hells yes.

Her hero's a total jackass but Lindsey heroes generally are. Luckily, Kristen's awesomeness makes up for his jerkitude. This is easily my favorite in this trilogy.

This is a book that I unexpectedly liked. It was a book that I fell for and I was addicted to it. I really loved reading about it and waiting to finish the book. So the main character is a Viking and gets captured by Saxon people. She calls the man that she falls for Saxon all the time. Kristen is a girl who is strong and doesn't need help from men. She is straight-forward and tells what she thinks. I really liked her character and I really think women from back then should be more like her. I also liked her mother as well. She has a feisty character. I think I need to read the first book because I am missing out on something. If I liked this book then I think I might like the story about Kristen's parents. Now I think I really liked Royce. He isn't the type of character that forces women and degrades women. He is a man that I would want. I also liked Kristen's family and I think that what I think about Vikings isn't true and I need to read more historical books.
