What kind of ending was that. Off to get the next one immediately!
I really enjoyed the banter between Alexia and Conell, though the communication issues between them was very frustrating.

Rated 5 stars because I just really enjoy this series!

I love the banter between Alexia and Conall. They are such a great fit for each other! The ending had me immediately starting the third book.
SpoilerSeriously though, I was distraught over Conall thinking that she was unfaithful! Really, man?!

Professor Lyall is another of my favorite characters, and I particularly loved him teaming up with Biffy. What I really would love to see in the future is Lyall having to work side-by-side with Lord Akeldama and Biffy at the same time.

The introduction of Madame Lefoux was a great addition to the cast.
SpoilerI knew that Quesnel was Angelique's child as soon as Alexia noticed the purple eyes. Also how obvious was Angelique as a spy? Really, Alexia? It was your first thought when she showed up, and then you never suspected. You immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was Madame Lefoux!

*4.75* I had minor problems with this book but overall I loved the characters and its one of my favourites of the series.

Dear Miss Carriger,

That was absolutely not an acceptable ending. I abhor such cliff-hangers, and you should be ashamed of yourself for ever stooping to such a level.

I shan't forgive you for such an atrocity!

It was alright, but suffers from the same pace problems as the first installment : it can be really entertaining for a few pages, then really boring for quite a few more... And there simply isn't enough plot. I did enjoy the lesbian undertones a lot though, as I did not expect them.
I may move on to the next one but it'll likely stop there.

Highly entertaining Steampunk YA

The difficult second novel is always critical in a series, after establishing the characters and the setting in the first novel, you have to prove that there’s basis for more stories while maintaining some kind of character development.

Changeless passes on all notes, it’s not Harry Potter but it seems like Carriger has a firm idea where the overall story is going, this instalment firmly establish Alexa as an independent resourceful agent in her own right, investigating a strange phenomenon which might endanger the supernatural world as a whole.

Speaking of Potter, I’m a little concerned that Alexa, is being set-up to be the “chosen one” a theme I’m a little tired off.

These books are just so joyful, the perfect summer reread for me. I would have a hard time thinking of a protagonist's voice I enjoy more than Alexia's.

Not quite as fun to read as the first one due to CHARACTER DRAMA and a bit more explanations of made up technology than I really needed, but still! Loved it. Looking forward to book 3!

I would say this was definitely a better read from the first book.

While I liked the novel overall, it wasn't nearly as funny, entertaining, or as intersting as the first. Alexia was still a great heroine, smart, witty, always sharp. Connal is a bit more of an ass than I remember, but at least Alexia can take his barbs and return them. Good for them.

I couldn't really stand Ivy or her sister. I wanted to slap both of them every single time they appeared on the page. Madame Lefoux was an interesting character, though lacked trustworthiness. The other new characters were pretty meh. I missed Lyall and Lord Akeldama.

I see we're moving towards a more serious plot in which Alexia's life may be in serious danger as we learn more about her kind. I'm betting her father is alive.

I was a bit shocked by the ending, but really the way they carry on about how "practical" their marriage is and that they didn't marry for love, no wonder Conall is instantly distrusting. What a cad!!

I will defintely be reading the next book.
