I tired to find something to like about this book. I could not. The amount of graveling the werewolf would have to do to make me read the next is... honestly insurmountable. She is literally able to turn supernaturals into non-supernaturals. How does werewolf not understand this? No thanks, he's gross.

I love Alexia as a character and I enjoyed this story. The ending has me a little
A great sequel. I'm so enamored with this series.
However, I must say that I will always find the concept of a mummy unwrapping party utterly disgusting and abhorrent. I just don't understand how that became something fun to do. I mean how would the English like it if the Egyptians started roaming through cemeteries for caskets and having casket opening parties with their great-great-great grandparents as the special guests?

Victorian Society full of vampires, werewolves, ghosts and spies. What's not to love?
Sometimes you just need a good comfort read that doesn't require too much thinking. Gail Carriger is quickly becoming my go-to author for such books. This book was full of frivolous fun, while still sporting strong, independent female characters. I think I liked this one even more than the first book. (Even though the "surprise twist" ending wasn't a surprise. I had been expecting it for the entire book.) It was still a fun read and, with the book ending on a cliffhanger, I'll have to go and read the next book soon to find out what happens next.

It saddens me how disappointed I was by this book, especially after how much I loved the first book in this series, 'Soulless'.
We still had lots of sass and charming banter - I also want my boyfriend to call me "my little terror"- but in my opinion, there wasn't really much more. The mystery felt weak, I couldn't really connect to any of the newly introduced characters (except for the awesome Madame Lefoux) and there was far too little steaminess. Even Alexia wasn't quite as great as she had once been.
I quickly got tired of all the silliness - honestly, there were so many annoying characters that I just wanted to smack - and almost decided that this would be the last book in this series for me, when suddenly something made me change my mind.
There was supposedly a plot twist in this book, which I could see literally miles away. It was so predictable, and when it was revealed at the end of the book, I almost obviously wasn't extremely into it - but then Carriger surprised me, and twisted that boring little twist and made it into something actually very interesting and shocking - and now I simply must read the next installment.
Also, one of my lovely friends told me that it does pick up again in the next book - so now I am feeling a bit excited. I really hope that Carriger won't disappoint me again and give me more of what I much loved in 'Soulless'. Let's keep our fingers crossed and pray for sweet Alexia's health.
