I just finished this book and I’m having a hard time recalling what just happened. The world building throughout the story was masterful but the pacing was very inconsistent and not a lot happened. The story started off well enough, right where This Woven Kingdom ended, and there was so much potential for an exciting tale but I found myself bored a lot of the time.

I did enjoy learning about the magic, royalty and the world itself. The characters were a mix review for me as well. Alizeh was strong, resilient, helpful and kind. Her stubbornness spoke to my own and I really appreciated her development throughout These Infinite Threads. Kamran came across as rude, belligerent and naive. His character development fell for me. Cyrus was, of course, very charming, mysterious and funny. There were some moments between him and Alizeh that had me laughing. I felt their romance was mildly forced as I didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between them.

The writing was very poetic and lyrical at times but I wish more had gone into the plot. The ending was too abrupt and could have been developed a bit more.

Overall, Tahereh Mafi writes a lovely story but for me it wasn’t impactful enough to leave a lasting impression.

It held my attention for a sequel - I listened via audio. I'm not a big fan of love triangles but it was nice to see Mafi begin to diminish one of the triangles for something new.

I just finished this last night thinking it’s a trilogy only to find out there’ll be five books. Very purple prose heavy. I feel like the author does not need to write so many books to tie the story up. That’s the only thing I feel is dragging but otherwise quite a wholesome and different story from other romantacy novels. Although Kamran and Alizeh in the first book were foreshadowed to be future lovers/partners, much of this book was spent showcasing the interaction between Cyrus and Alizeh. Cyrus, a deeply jaded character. I also found this book healing on some levels. Both Cyrus and Alizeh have been through trauma in their past. They are both hurt, neglected in different ways and carry unhealed wounds. I feel like they were unknowingly healing one another with their quirky interactions. Sure, there was also much banter that flowed very well and was quite entertaining to read. Lowkey was giving enemies to possible lovers vibe. The whole “Marry me, Alizeh” I found very endearing. Enough so that I ship these two more than Kamran and her.  Alas, he is on his way to her too so more of the story is yet to unfold as this ended on an unfortunate cliffhanger.

Cyrus is so desperate and pathetic. I love it.✨

A complete waste of time. The plot is basically non existent because what do you mean this entire book took place in the span of barely 2 days!?

Pacing is incredibly inconsistent. It’s slow yet extremely rushed. Almost every single scene dragged causing the story to lack progression; however the romance in this book was like a sprint making it head scratching because Alizeh and Cyrus have only know each other for like less than 2 days. The prose is redundant and the main characters aren’t as likable as the first book. In fact, the characters act like different people reduce to just shells of their former selves. Cyrus and Hazan are the most interesting characters in this entire book… and that’s not saying much 🫤
