Becoming us was a brilliant prequel to A broken Us. It took me through the lives of Fin and Jake, as well as those close to them. The main characters are at the stage in their lives where they are unsure of what they want, still a bit on the the crazy uni fun stage and very attracted to each other.

I love that the story is written in a way that I actually feel as though I am seeing the story through their eyes. Every detail, every thought (even the funny ones) is given to you, but it isn’t drab- it is very much the opposite, as I feel alive and ready to pounce Jake myself. For those out of uni, it gives you a glimpse back to the kind of person we were in our youth, wild, crazy and out for a good time.

However, we watch as both Fin and Jake grow and become trusting, loving adults – we literally feel and see through the window of their lives, as they fall in love. Amy Daws has written a fantastically real, emotional read, but is it real love? We see the entrance of Brody! Will Fin choose a lover she's grown close to, one that has betrayed her, or the one that feels right?

I LOVED reading as Fin and Jake grew together, fell apart, Brody entered and Fin questioned everything she thought she knew of love. It was raw, gritty, funny and really represented a lot of the issues in a relationship, especially at that age. It was great to see Brody, yes THE Brody enter into the story :). It makes the story even more emotional to know what happens in A Broken Us. I was completely addicted to the story, sitting on the edge of my seat and Fin and Brody created something. built on such a strong love that it seems unbreakable, the kind of love we dream of.

I felt a part of this story. It was written so well that it seemed real. It was addicting, hilarious, enraging and heart-warming – everything I could ever want in a love story and more. This book is brilliant! I highly recommend it and the whole London Lovers series. I can’t wait to see more from Daws- I foresee some epic love stories!

I really wanted to like this book. There were moments when I saw potential, but overall it was a disappointment. Everything happened too fast. There was hardly any build-up and anticipation.

I received an ARC of this book in order to write a review and I have nothing but good things to say! I loved it! Amy is great at projecting the emotions of the characters upon the reader. I laughed and cried with Finley. I read this book in one sitting because I simply couldn't put it down. Another home run for Amy Daws!

Amy Daws has re-wound the clock to go back to where it all began with Becoming Us, the prequel to A Broken Us. “The dreaded friend-zone... The last place I ever want to be with college basketball God, Jake LaShae. I am losing my mind trying to figure out what this gorgeous and confident man wants from me. I need to break through his walls. What is it about me that makes him not go there? What am I lacking? When a mind-blowing betrayal knocks the wind out of me, and I think I can’t feel any lower...Brody stumbles into my path—barefoot no less, and sexy as hell. His direct and mouth-watering swagger is a breath of fresh air. The feelings this man gives me are like nothing I've ever experienced. But Brody has a past. A past that makes it nearly impossible for him to trust me and let us become us in whatever capacity that may be. Just when Brody and I truly connect, just when I think that finding my soul-mate in college isn’t a total joke, Jake comes back into my life…and messes things up…possibly for good.” The tag line of the book is “College love never hurt so good,” and this book definitely brought me right into the college life with its exciting descriptions of classes, parties, and Finley’s computer lab job. Like Finley, I found my true love in college, after a time of misdirected pining over the wrong man. So, even though it was a good while ago, I could relate to Finley’s story. Having read A Broken Us, I enjoyed reading how Finley and Brody met and became a couple. Amy’s writing is easy to read and a lot of fun with the reader able to relate well to the characters while joining in with both their pain and their joy.

Becoming Us was such a great read. I loved Brody! He was so much fun! I know he could be a little over the top at times, but that first meeting? Oh he was adorable.

So this story starts off with Finley sitting in a coffee shop hoping that today will finally be the day that Jake LeShae talks to her. That they start a conversation instead of just making eye contact. Jake LeShae who is the hottest guy ever. Jake who once they did start talking I kept thinking am I supposed to like this guy? Cause I didn't. Not at all. He was a huge jerk. Stringing Fin along for what seemed like no good reason. They started talking and hanging out and he would sometimes act like he wanted more, like he wanted to date her, but then would just shut down and go dark on her. Then they would be just friends again and the cycle would repeat itself. He was...not very good. He might be hot, but he runs too hot and cold.

When things finally blow up between them I was so happy. Finally Fin can move on and find someone more worthy of her. She was such a sweet person she deserved someone great. And then there was Brody. Oh he was adorable! When he runs out into the parking lot without any shoes and a half empty bag of garbage just so he has an excuse to be out there and talk to her oh I loved it. From the moment he stepped into the picture I was just smiling ear to ear. He was wonderful.

So Fin and Brody were so cute together! They do do that thing where they just get wrapped up in each other and the outside world doesn't seem to exist, but I didn't care. He does have a bit of baggage that comes up a time or two, a few scenes where he gets really crazy in not a good way, but he knows he has issues as well. He knows he needs to try and figure his stuff our so he doesn't lose the best thing to ever happen to him. They both feel so much so quickly it can be a bit rough at times, but oh how I loved these two. Brody really helps Fin be more confident and self assure. Jake did a number on her with the constantly keeping her guessing so Brody was a welcome change with his open honesty. He was adorable! I loved watching the two of them grow closer and figure everything out.

Until we get to the ending. The epilogue where it is all ominous cliffhanger-ey and...I enjoyed this story so much, but I really don't know that I will enjoy the next book. One of the things I really hate in stories is when people make decisions for other people, and that is what book 2 sounds like it will be. So...I loved this story, but wish it wouldn't have had the epilogue.

Thank you to the author, Amy Daws, for gifting me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

It's been a long time since I've read just a straight up realistic fiction romance book. It was a welcome change. Becoming Us follows Fin around college and her relationship with Brody and Jake. Let me tell you, there is tons of drama (I'm a sucker for drama though don't worry).

I really enjoyed reading about Fin's life and yes, all her drama. I think what appealed to me most is that all the characters just seem so real. You know when you read those books and it's like all the characters are either waaay too perfect or waaay too flawed to actually be realistic? These characters were nothing like that.

Now Brody. He was so sweet and wonderful! I loved his signs and his answers for everything :) The way he and Fin say 'I love us' is just too perfect! It really shows how a relationship is the way two people are together and that being together can bring out your best self.

I literally have nothing else to say other than it was all wonderful! I was glued to my kindle for 3 hours while I devoured this book!

The Final Verdict:
Such a sweet and realistic college love story that turns out to be more than a fling. I'm so excited to read A Broken Us (the next book in the series)! There was a little sneak peek at the end of Becoming Us and those first chapters ... I NEED MORE!

Oh this was bad. So, so bad. I'd excuse the bland characters and uninteresting prose, but then the text includes gems like "a boy and a girl can't just be friends." And the girl's sister blaming the girl for GETTING SEXUALLY ASSAULTED because the girl "should have left immediately" and the girl's boyfriend had been cheated on before so she "should meet him halfway" when he doesn't like that she dresses """provocatively""" and dances at a party. Dear Lord.

Oh, and in the preview for the next book we find out that having babies is the ultimate goal that women exist for. I repeat: Dear Lord.

And even the erotica was disappointing. So really, I got nothing out of reading this.
