All Summer Long is a sweet middle-grade graphic novel about dealing with change-- in friendships, family, and interests. Larson does a beautiful job portraying Bina, a 13yo finding her path as an artist.

This was super adorable! I am sooo happy I pick this up. Normally I don't pick up Middle Grade or contemporary that often. I really love the confidence that oozes off of Bina. This was a real interpretation of what it is like being 13. I would love to see what happens next if the author wants to give us a sequel.

When Bina's best friend goes to soccer camp for the summer, the vacation weeks stretch out in front of her. What's she going to do without her best friend and neighbor Austin? To make matters worse, he seems to be outgrowing their friendship. He's not interested in the summer vacation points game they've always played and he isn't texting her back from soccer camp. Bina's going to have to set out on her own to survive the summer with playing guitar and babysitting and making an unexpected new friend.

This summer story ties in nicely with the musical Summer Reading theme and I'll definitely put it on display. Fans of moody contemporary fiction and realistic graphic novels will enjoy this one.

Book #67 for the EBN book Challenge for my Library.
Challenge Topic: A book set during the summer.

THis was recommended by Liz and it was really a cute book about friend and how things change over the summer when yuou are apart and start to figure out who you are.

It was well done, and I normally don't like graphic novels.

Read for Librarian Book Group
What do you do when your best friend leaves for the summer for soccer camp? Lots of hanging out.  This graphic novel captures a summer of boredom and changes.

Also: guaranteed to get the song "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock stuck on my head.

It was good. It’s about things changing as kids grow older and sometimes that means changing friends. I’m glad that Bina has the courage to start a band.

An interesting graphic novel about the summer between 7th and 8th grade and a girl finding herself and her confidence. I love a representation of a tattooed mom. Ours is classified in JG, but I think a better fit for middle grade or YA.

I liked this book very much! Bina is a sympathetic, thoroughly developed protagonist and her experiences during the summer between 7th and 8th grade will resonate with both adult and middle grade readers, something that's challenging to get right.

At the start of the story, Bina is moving into that awkward early-teens transitional period, where she can't quite hang with the older kids but her peers are developing a range of disparate interests.

I would recommend this one to a wide range of ages, and i hope it inspires a new generation of kids to pick up musical instruments!
