Cali knows how to write a hockey romance but this book was off the charts! I loved Nico and Harper. Nico was literally such a cinnamon roll MC but also a touch her and I’ll break your arm!! Those are my favorite. Harper and Nico meet on the dance floor and before anything went to far Nico gets pulled away come to find out they work together!
I love how the navigate everything’s such a sweet swoony story and I can not wait for the rest of this series I’m hooked!

I really liked Harper and Nico’s story, it was such an quick and easy read and I feel like it’s the type of read that would be good if you’re struggling with a reading slump. If you’re looking for a sweet yet spicy small town hockey romance and don’t mind a tiny bit of a forbidden aspect this book would be for you.

I enjoyed all the side characters and hoping we will see a book for Nico’s sister soon.

I have to stop reading books I find from booktok bc they always always let me down. This book sucked and I genuinely question the people that rated this highly. Have you ever read a decent book before? Do you not care about character development or any realistic plots? I only finished because I hate to DNF but it was a CHORE.

Instead of using words to actually move the story forward or show growth in the characters, the author added these superfluous descriptions of actions that made sentences feel extra long. Like I came off the rink through the door and sat next to my teammate and put down my stick and removed my mouth guard and grabbed my water and drank it while also watching the game. It’s like when a kid has to do the pbj exercise where they write the how-to instructions and have to include every minuscule detail. Just say they took a break

I truly could not put this down. Nico, my man was absolutely swoony. And the spice is yummy, chapter 8 is

Really cute read nico cirone is what every book boyfriend wants to be

Cute romance with characters that don't deviate once they meet. It was pretty close to insta-love, and it's a fast burn too, if that's what you're here for. I find I didn't mind the insta-love that much in this case, but it made for a pretty gentle read with very, very little angst. It also ends on a cute hfn, unless you sign up for the author's email list and read the bonus epilogue.

Didn't like how pushy the MMC was in the beginning. His not taking her no for and answer because he "knows" she doesn't mean it when that's the second time he's ever seen her in his life.....okay. He also pushes her to tell him things anytime he feels like he wants to know. Thankfully that got over with pretty quickly, but for a sec there I was definitely annoyed.

‼️ SPOILERS
Also found it odd that the author chose to introduce the MMC of the next book at 90% into the book??? They had just gotten home from the hospital after a car accident where he thought he lost her for a few moments and they were both injured. But he decides THAT'S an appropriate time to call up a friend from high school that's never been mentioned before now to have dinner THAT NIGHT to talk about nothing important for 5 minutes instead of, idk, taking care of your injured leg, or your injured girlfriend, or worrying about your jobs since she's about to lose hers??? (Notice how she lost hers, but he didn't, and he didn't even mention how the convo about his job went?) He couldn't even tell him the next week would be more convenient? Smh then they go on as if nothing happened.

This is something you add another epilogue on at the very end for, or you introduce the character earlier so that we might actually care about them for the 5 pages they appear on. This completely took me out of the story, and I almost DNFd because it was close enough to the end that I could just skim and get the picture, but I ended up finishing.

ilsesboeken's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH

The characters were flat and just didn’t have chemistry.
