It was okay. Nothing bad, nothing to make me die to pick it back up a read it.
I will say, while it wasn’t closed door, I did expect more steam just based on the things I have heard others say about her writing.
However, the suspense plot line just didn’t feel super suspenseful and was resolved pretty quickly. Like, I felt as if we were just told vs. something happening to reveal it.

the queen is back i have been so excited for this book and it did not disappoint. top tier tropes fmc in danger protective mmc SAY LESS! i am immediately sat. i have missed this town and those stupid squirrels so deeply (????) and i am so glad she is continuing to write in this setting because the bailey brothers series is my favorite small town romance series ever and i’m just so happy she is doing the haven brothers. also the baily brother cameos make me so happy i’m just so happy i can’t wait for the next one
Josiah is stubborn but caring, but he had been burned before, ready to commit, and the woman was prepared to walk away from him and the small-town life.
Audrey has moved back home with her dog, Max. It is not precisely an excellent midlife achievement, and she feels like she could have done better. Her parent's house is stuffy and formal, and she and Max are definitely not. Amidst all the stress, the author adds to the creepy stalker vibes.
The weird notes in the book's pages and the oddities that happen are definitely suspect, but the adventures with Max are the best. I love all the small-town vibes, from the girl next door to the gossip. So I know who the creeper is in the story by now, but it still gives me the Herbie Jeebies. Also, I really want Josiah to beat him to a pulp. The stalker vibes are vital in this romantic suspense/contemporary romance.
Omg, squirrel funerals are not supposed to be funny, but I couldn't help but laugh.
Oh, steamy at last, Josiah and Audrey don't disappoint. He totally lives up to his lumbersnack nickname. Oh, the stalker isn't who I thought it was at all twisted. Josiah and Audrey are an opposites-attract couple. But I love them together. I love the ending of this book just enough to make you smile.
This was a fantastic read. I loved the added romantic suspense, the neighbor-to-lovers tropes, and, of course, the grumpy/sunshine opposites attract romance. This book was unexpectedly excellent. I didn't think I would like it initially, but it was the perfect mix of small-town romance and larger-than-life characters. I especially loved Max. This book is a must-read if you love contemporary romance and a little bit of suspense. Also, I loved how I was surprised by who the stalker was.

3/5 stars.
If I'm being 100% honest, I could have given less of a fuck about this couple. I didn't particullary dislike or like them, I just didn't are about them at all. It all just felt really dramatic for what the situation actually boiled down too, and the final scene with the stalker was just anticlimactic and a little ridiculous. If I could sum up this book in one word, it would be "eh."
But it did get extra points just for Max. And the scene of thw town meeting when they discussed how to protect the squirrels. That was fucking hilarious.

I actually have no intellectual thoughts on this book, but I enjoyed it…I could barely remember that the main male character is named Josiah and not Josh

Obsession Falls is the first book in the Haven Brothers series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Audrey Young is back in her hometown of Tilikum. She’s unable to stay with her mother because her dog is stressing her mother out, so she finds a place to rent. The landlord, Josiah Haven, is very grumpy and intimidating. And, to make matters worse, she has this eerie feeling of being watched. She shakes it off, but then she starts getting threats.
Josiah had been burned by women in the past, so he closed off his heart. Yet, there’s something about his new neighbor, Audrey, that catches his attention. He can’t get her out of his mind, and when he discovers that someone is stalking her, he will do anything to keep her safe.
Audrey’s stalker. Well, they were just extremely upset and irrationally angry over Audrey being back. They just don’t want Audrey around. But why? There seemed to be no reason.
I was upset with her stalker – which turned out to be someone I did not expect! The stalker was unaliving squirrels. It’s not gruesomely detailed though, so I could get through it. Honestly, her stalker was just crazy.
This was a slow burn romance with minimal spice, sweet moments, and a lot of mystery and suspense. I really liked watching the friendship and bond growing between Audrey and Josiah. She slowly got past his tough exterior, and he became extremely protective. He really went out of his way to try to eliminate anyone he thought to be the one threatening her. Anyway, this was my first Claire Kingsley book, but it will not be the last!

Narrators: Ava Erickson, Connor Crais, and Scott Rose.
The narrators did an excellent job bringing this story and these characters to life. I could easily tell which character was speaking at any given time.
Tropes:
Small Town
Grumpy/Sunshine
Stalker (creepy kind)
Mystery & Suspense
