Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

Interesting read but a little too preachy for me. The boy's father is a pastor and I imagine naturally inclined to think everything his child says about heaven is revolutionary.
I found myself saying "Wow!" more than a few times. This was a very quick read.
fast-paced
My sister gave this to me and I know she meant well. After all I was afraid of death, going through a serious surgery myself this November.
But tbh…even though I think there might be something after death…this book…nope!
This kid got indoctrinated early on and just repeats stuff he heard and saw. The Dad is a pastor ffs and so of course the kid will tell him how „paradise“ looks exactly how he heard it in all the bible stories. Kids are like sponges. They soak up things even when you think they don‘t hear you.
I‘m sorry for what the family had to go through, but do I believe this story? Not really!

I wish I could give this book 1 1/2 stars.
This book is focused on a little boy's story of heaven. However it is written by his father (Who is a pastor). The entire first half of the book focuses on the families story before the little boy goes to heaven. I was hoping to have more focus on what the little boy experienced in heaven but the majority of the focus was on the family on earth.
I'm skeptical. I just wonder how an adult can twist a child's words and wonder if things were overlooked or exaggerated in this book.
Be prepared for a lot of scripture and passages from the bible. At times the author pushed Christianity. I understand the author was trying to get his views across to non-Christians but also think he could have gone about it in a less straight forward way.

I respect everyone's opinion. I've read a lot of disappointed comments about this book but then, it never affected me even a bit. Maybe I was just as childish as those who believed in it, but no problem. I'm still fascinated with Heaven and God and everything that's written on this book.
Some are skeptical. But who knows, this might be real right? Everything Colton said when he was just 3 or 4 years old, it matches everything that's scripted on the Bible. And Todd quoted all these. Somebody said Bible is enough to believe in God and not to depend their faith in this merely simple book. But I wonder, why is that? Aren't you overwhelmed that something written in the Bible, someone has experienced them first-hand for you to grasp that those are real? Everyone who believes everything written in Bible, why are you so skeptical about this book then?
Yes, maybe a doubtful story because Todd is a pastor and Colton's a son of a pastor. But come to think of it. How cruel Todd is or the whole of Burton Family if they had indeed manipulated the world with their stories? Knowing he is a pastor, would he risk his soul and his son's or even his wife's soul to rot in hell by giving false facts about Heaven and God? I think not. My faith haven't tainted even a little with statements laid on this book. I believe Colton and the Burton Family are just one of the millions out there who were used by God as an instrument to tell the world what Heaven really looks like and that there is really God. Why do you think, that everyone who has experienced the same thing, only tell and say almost all the same things as well? Have you read "90 Minutes in Heaven"? I did. And they only see the same things. Different million colors that humans still do not know yet; angels and their singing; huge and golden wings; halos; white robes and sash; no-pain-and-just-pure-joy-paradise; no one's old in Heaven; Jesus with same description especially his beautiful eyes; the super white light; etc. Why is it that those different people from different places, and from different time, utter the same statement, the same descriptions, the same stuff? Do you think it's just a mere coincidence? And do you think this one is just a mere fiction written by a Pastor who's just carried away with his own Faith? I believe not.
It's my own opinion though. :)
Favorite Lines of Colton:
"It doesn't get dark in Heaven Dad! Who told you that?" "God and Jesus light up Heaven. It never gets dark. It's always bright."
"Well, who sits on the other side of God's throne?" Todd said. "Oh, that's easy Dad. That's where the Angel Gabriel is. He's really nice."
"It's going to be okay. The first person you're going to see is Jesus."
"Dad, nobody's old in Heaven," Colton said. "And nobody wears glasses."
"No. I have another sister. I saw her. In Heaven."
"Mom, Satan's not in hell yet," Colton said, almost scolding. "The Angels carry swords so they can keep Satan out of Heaven!"
"There's going to be a war, and it's going to destroy this world. Jesus and the angels and the good people are going to fight against Satan and the monsters and the bad people. I saw it."
"Jesus wins. He throws Satan into hell. I saw it."

Colton Burpo was a regular four-year-old boy living in a small Nebraska town with his pastor dad and teacher mom. In 2003, he had a near-death experience after he suffered from a ruptured appendix. Doctors fought to save his life, and Colton surviving the odds was considered a miracle in the medical field.
Colton lived to tell the tale of how he has seen heaven, Jesus, God, Gabriel and the angels. He started to talk about stuff in the Bible and about Jesus that a regular 4-year-old just could not possibly know yet. Also he shared with his parents how he has met Pop, his dad's grandfather, and his sister, whom his mother lost due to a miscarriage before he was even born.
The book is a short and easy read, and ultimately, it will make you think and rethink about the heaven that is already in your head.

I was disappointed with this book. I do not believe this boy's very religious parents had nothing to do with this boys rendition of heaven.
Completely felt like being preached at by the VERY specific belief of the child's father.
