This is sooo good. I'm a huge sucker for slice of life stuff with a bit of the strange/supernatural thrown in so this is right up my alley.

It features one of the coolest extended metaphors I've seen in an Invisible Man story: "You don't understand. It poisoned me. It took my mind. And then I took her... by the time I knew what was happening, she was gone... and so was I." I'm not even really doing this part justice because it features a really great illustration, too.

The vintage-style suspense comic covers as the chapter breaks are also really cute.

The only thing keeping this from five stars is the way that the art style kind of broke my suspension of disbelief sometimes. When it came to Griffen (yeah, with an "e") everything was on-point but the faces of the townsfolk could be a little distracting.

Heard good things about Lemire so wanted to check him out. The Nobody blends an invisible man story with "stranger in a small town" type of story and it works quite well, is told well but somehow doesnt seem to have anything fresh to say. Quite satisfying and I am inclined to try more of his work.

Went into this completely blind to discover it's an adaptation of H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man. Haven't read the original, so I can't judge this graphic novel based on that.

I'm a big fan of Jeff Lemire's colorless art, especially in this piece. It feels like it fits with the invisible man in a small town vibe, maybe because it has Twilight Zone vibes. A quick satisfying read that could have been made bland with a less skilled artist and a more aggressive main character.

An interesting adaptation of The Invisible Man, and one of the most engaging graphic novels I've read in a while.

I'm a huge fan of Lemire's storytelling, and how intertwined it is with his art. They sync up so well, and strongly complement the other. This is no exception, and a great noir tale echoing 'The Invisible Man' with a subplot of small-town American paranoia. Definitely a keeper.

The Nobody is really a simple story by all accounts. Mysterious man wrapped in bandages appears in small-town, locks himself away in a motel room, doesn't really talk to anybody except the awkward teenage daughter of the diner he seldom gets take out from.

But, it all works.

Lemire's strengths really ARE in the small town aesthetic and attitudes of his characters. It's what he knows and he makes it what YOU know.

This story would have been swallowed up in the context of a city, but thrives perfectly in a town that's less a town and more a bar and a stree with less-than-1000-residents.

Two-colour, lovely as well.
