This book was fucking BRILLIANT! I actually loved it that much. It took me a little longer to read than most books this length because I wasn't spending much time reading and was doing other shit, but I never wanted to put it down. YES, the covers terrible, but the story was super good. I'm even super interested in the next book when I went into this thinking I'd only read the first one! Super glad I put this on this months reading challenge for me, I was eager since last year to read it and oh my god it was so good!

Yes there's lots of travelling, but I didn't feel it wasn't necessary. Every part of this book interested me, and by the end I had tears in my eyes. I was so sure the ending would happen at their last night picnic with the little clues and I was so angry he left him for school and decided he couldn't call until his ass got handed to him by randy but everything felt super realistic. The thoughts and feelings all felt like a normal persons thoughts. It was super romantic and I didn't feel it was cheesy, just really beautiful. So happy I read this. Also so happy he took his mothers ashes and spread them, and what he did with the last of it was so damn adorable and showed so much love. Ah I'm just dying.

Well damn boy…that was H-O-T! I’ve enjoyed Ms. Cullinan’s writing in the past and this book was certainly no exception. Some how this book manages to rub right up against all of my “danger Will Robison” no-no’s and not manage to tip over into irritating the heck out of me. It took me a moment to accept the initial premise of Sam’s character, but once I got my head around who he was, I was certainly along for the ride.

Sam Keller is from bum-fuck Iowa in a little town where nothing ever happens. He had a happy childhood in spite of his mother struggles with MS, at least until she succumbed to cancer when he was seventeen. Living with his aunt and uncle isn’t exactly a cakewalk, but eventually it will allow Sam to get his college education and have somewhere to go in his life. For now it means dealing with trying to remain in their good graces, have no money to spend really, and working his butt off in their pharmacy stockroom every extra minute. Of course if they ever found out about his tendency to participate in somewhat edgy sexual practices, well those good graces just might be gone.

Mitch Tedsoe is a long haul trucker whose spent most of his adult life on the road. He loves the lifestyle though and his truck, Old Blue, is definitely his home, more than his home away from home. When he sees the stock boy dancing his way outside the back of the building he can’t help but smile at the cute kid. The flirting that follows is unexpected, but not unwelcome. Having the boy on his knees in the back of his trailer quickly becomes inevitable. The one little fling though quickly becomes something Mitch can’t forget and finding Sam’s phone left behind after they almost got caught gives Mitch that one little reason to contact the boy again.

Ok so instantaneous super hot sex in the back of an 18-wheeler with a twenty-one year old kid started out a little squicky for me. Though I admit the author prepares you nicely since from page one Sam’s proponent for dreaming of the edgier sexual acts is quickly established. I liked the dichotomy Ms. Cullinan set up though of this boy who wants all these crazy sexual experiences, but has so much love and respect for his deceased mother he feels guilty about wanting them. She had always told him sex was something you reserved for someone you love, and there’s a part of Sam that really believes that. Of course he wishes he could have his cake and eat it too…then along comes Mitch and the possibilities are endless.

First and foremost…if you’re looking for some sweet, non-kinky book…DO NOT PICK THIS UP! This is hot, kinky sex at it’s BEST! This book follows Sam’s development and his mental growing up from one sexual adventure to the next. The fact that this story truly does develop Sam as a person and that he comes out a stronger more mature man in the end is why this book is so fabulous. When it starts Sam is a kid who dreams about sex in the way most young men do, granted he dreams of all of it’s darker more twisty aspects, but still he’s practically just a horny teenager albeit in his twenties. When things get difficult he runs away. After the time he spends with Mitch though Sam becomes the man he needs to be, one who is able to face his problems head on and ask for what he really wants in life…and sure there’s going to be some pretty stellar sex in that equation too.

I loved Sam’s enthusiasm for everything he was experiencing while he was still underneath it all a shy bundle of nerves. There’s beautiful line walked here between someone drenched in sexual depravity and this sweet boy who is trying to understand his own desires and where the line is for himself. Mitch for his part is such a wonderful twisty mess of past entanglements. I loved how torn up and unable to communicate with Sam he was over the things in his past. His fears of where and how things could go wrong made him so much more interesting as a character and really validated why his feelings for Sam were so special.

Enter Randy and the point in the story where it could have potentially gone of the rails for me. Now while I like triads I generally HATE threesomes. I want there to be the potential of a relationship developing or I get all twitchy and feel like there’s cheating going on which is always something that knocks a book down for me. This didn’t even come close to making me blink. Of course Randy is just wonderfully this side of evil and such an interesting character in his own right. I alternately wanted to punch him and cuddle him to help him resolve all his own issues. Speaking of there were so many unresolved issues between Randy and Mitch that needed closure, not to mention the fact that what happens between the three of them was necessary to cement the true feelings between Mitch and Sam. This situation absolutely had a place in this book and would have been lacking without. I never felt like what was happening took away from what was special about Mitch and Sam. It only enhanced it.

This story is lovingly told with wonderful imagery and a truly heartfelt connection between two men. Sure there’s a lot of kinky sex going on, but that’s not really what this book is about. This is about two men discovering themselves and the future they can have together if they learn to truly trust. I loved seeing this all develop as they made their way across the country in the most unlikeliest of travels…all in the cab of an 18-wheeler. This story is beautiful and I will definitely be looking to read book 2. I mean who wouldn’t be drawn to Randy after everything that went down in Vegas.

This book made me really uncomfortable and I considered giving it 2-stars. I was loving it up until the introduction of Randy. I usually don't have a problem with threesomes, or foursomes or any other variation. Whether its just sex or a true threesome relationship, it doesn't matter to me. But I just absolutely hated Randy. He was way too forceful and the idea of the three of them together made me a little sick. I considered quitting the book once I realized threesome sex was inevitable, but I didn't. I stuck with it for Sam and Mitch. And it was worth it since the ending was great, and way sweeter than I expected. But now I have the heebie jeebies and I don't plan to continue the series since Randy is featured in the next three books (counting the extras).

Special Delivery is a mild kink, high heat, MM romance light on the romance. It moved along at a nice pace until we hit the road block of Randy, the strange and somewhat annoying ex-boyfriend/menage partner. The story became muddled, I thought we were going for a throuple ending, there was a lot more investment into the Randy character than needed. I enjoy a high heat book as long as it also has a lot of plot and this is far less plot driven

Heidi Cullinan you’ve gone and wrecked me.

Special Delivery is a conundrum. At first I was convinced this was a literary erotica, writing that rivals the work of Anais Nin and Henry Miller. This is partly true, but Special Delivery is so much more than a story about sex that will rattle you to your very core.

The story of Sam Keller ( 21 year old, nursing student) and Mitch Tedsoe ( 33 year old, trucker) unfolds during a 10 day ride from Middleton, Iowa to Vegas in a long-haul truck.

For Sam this is an opportunity to escape his life in Iowa and explore the sexual fantasies that have riddled him with guilt. Mitch being on a similar sexual wave length and experience to boot takes Sam on a ride neither will forget.

“ Because it felt so good to have you watch.
Because it was so dirty and awful to do all that with a stranger.
Because it was hot and it was wonderful, and it’s everything I’ve always been afraid to be.
It’s difficult for me to believe someone actually wants to see me that way”

Cullinan will take you on a vivid adventure of the grand canyon, Navajo Nation, Vegas…

“ The rocks opened before him in layers of more colors than he could count or name, a whole world…”

There are so many twists and turns to Mitch’s character you’ll find yourself torn and confused.

“ I’m not a real nice guy, Sam. Not usually. I’m gruff, and I’m rough, and I don’t have many friends… The only time I’m charming is when I want a job or want to fuck somebody, and even then I think it’s probably a dubious claim”

Randy will enter into the fold, a character that will mess with the MC’s and your own mind until you do not know which way is up and which way is down. Even after everything Sam and Mitch will put you through, Randy will unnerve you, anger you, disgust you and twist you up until you’re convinced the knots will never unravel.

Heidi Cullinan is a special kind of writer. One that tackles different dynamics in each of her work and goes at it with some serious dedication to deliver it stripped, bare and unapologetic. My comfort level was shoved and wrecked in this book. I recommend being mentally prepared for some dark erotic scenes. Personally I was torn between finding them hot and feeling depraved. However, Cullinan will not disappoint. Her talents at describing sexual scenes cannot be rivaled, she moves and twists body parts until you’ll feel like you’re sitting in the same room, you as the voyeur of the scene before you.

Though I felt like I went through the wringer, the level of relief I felt in the end was a fully body experience. There is such a personal growth with both MC's and a sense of peace that blankets the story. The HEA is like a balm soothing all the trauma Cullinan has inflicted.

This story isn’t for everyone, but if you’re up for a wrecking you’ll never forget… well, I highly recommend Special Delivery.

I enjoyed the hell out of this book! It was angsty, sexy, had traveling, and a very sexy trucker. Made me wanna hang out at truck stops.

The emotion was high throughout, and I think only at the very, very end did it tip into a little fluffiness. Otherwise, it was intense, as it needed to be for this story. What I appreciated the most in this, is that Mitch is a tough guy, an experienced guy, a guy you could trust, but he isn't a perfect guy. It made him real and even sexier.

Other than the unfortunate typos, this was great read!

How was this only a 14 day road trip. This went on forever. I thought I liked it at the start. Then I couldn’t wait for it to be over. And then an engagement on the last page? I’m so confused
