If you're into contemporary, small town, swoony in the feels stories that also have lumberjacks then you'll definitely want to check out "Caught in the Axe".

This was a unique take on a classic lumberjack romance, but honestly nothing WOWd me. I like both main characters and their story, but there was too much going on in the background. I know some of the family building was necessary for future books but I really didn’t like Adele and none of the brothers (besides Gus) stood out as anything interesting.
I will be curious to see how I like the rest of the series!

Fine didn’t like it as much as the other series
This is the first book in the Hebert's series--Owen and Lila's romance.
Wood Riddance, the last book in the Lovewell Lumberjacks series, was complete and utter perfection in my eyes, so I think I may have set my expectations a little too high and was sadly disappointed with this one. It felt like it relied way too much on tropes and was a little too formulaic for my taste.
I was bored early on and did not feel that these two had any real chemistry. Also, I am definitely in the minority with this one but, the buying the whole pizza oven bit was super corny to me. One of my pet peeves is when a Hero is rich and makes outlandish purchases as romantic gestures--call me crazy, but it's not practical and is just too showy for my liking (although, I'm not a fan of billionaire romance whatsoever, so take my opinion with a giant grain of salt--since I know that is a very loved subgenre).
Overall, it just wasn't my favorite, but I'm gonna take it as a one-off since it included some of my least favorite tropes. I will absolutely continue reading this series because I just love what Daphne has done with Lumberjacks in romance!
That being said, I don't think this particular one was for me, but if you are a fan of boss/employee and billionaire type romance, you would probably really enjoy this one; but if you're not crazy about those tropes, you can probably skip this one and wait for the next one in the series!
Thank you to the author for kindly providing an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Others may love it, just not for me. For such a long book I felt like so much of the story was missing, conversations rushed and odd things focused on for pages that could have been a sentence. So much involved what's I'd guess are characters from other series or tying in the next books and it took away from this story. Maybe good if you've read the others. If they don't tie in then it's even more strange.
