This was a good book--a little random at times. The narrator's perspective changed from chapter to chapter so the story was a little disorienting, but all in all it was a good, quick read.

The review on the back called it a coming-of-age story. I suppose that's right, although most of the time the book seemed less about the main character and more about the people in her life. There were many elements of magic and fantasy in this book, which kept it interesting.

This is my favourite Francesca Lia Block book. The first time I read it, I was actually left quite confused as I didn't really grasp what had happened. The way the book is written, I sometimes couldn't tell whose POV I was reading. Or maybe I just read it too quickly the first time, who knows..
In any case, I'm so glad I decided to reread it because it actually became one of my favourite books.
I really like the writing style. It made the story seem quite whimsical and a little haunting. As written on the back of the book, it's a coming-of-age story about a girl called Echo. She goes through so much in her life and the ending really touched my heart.

Easiest read ever. I don't recommend it if you get annoyed with strange writing styles--the book's written for what seems to be a teenage, but has content that I wouldn't allow my niece to touch.

One of the most lovely, non-judgemental, adult coming-of-age tales I've read in some time. If you haven't read Block before, start with Weetzie Bat, and if you think you can hang with her sugar-dusted prose and hallucinogenic spin on a mythic Los Angeles (Shangri-L.A.), definitely seek Echo out. It's one of her best.

Had a hard time sorting out the characters.
I would be interested to try another one of hers but this one didn't catch me.

Francesa Lia Block is an amazing writer. Her stories are about angels, faeries, magic, etc... Echo is the first book I've read by FLB, and I've read it many times again. It's a very quick read and it's a beautiful story about a girl (Echo) and her many loves.

There was something about the book that wouldnt let me stop reading. No matter how hard i tried i couldnt stop. I gave it 4 stars because of the fact that i couldnt stop reading it but the story/ plot itself is probably 3 stars.
