Rivalry

After reading every Vegas Aces series, I naively thought I knew where this new season was going with Rivalry. I was so wrong because there is a new coach in town, and changes are taking place within the organization. The old guard has retired, and head coach Lincoln Nash is ready to leave his mark.

He comes from an NFL family: his dad and uncle used to play, and his three younger brothers all have football careers. He is set on keeping the winning strike of the team, who won the Super Bowl last season. There is no time for his non-existent personal life until he crosses paths with Jolene Bailey, the new Aces correspondent.

She was his first love. He broke her heart. Their families hate each other. The past is a strong reminder of what is at stake. But professionally, their work lives will be intertwined. So far, it has modern Montagues and Capulets vibes, hopefully with a happy ending. But it's too soon to say what will happen because I, for once, have no clue!

This review has nothing to do with the writing or the author. Just simply I didn't connect with the characters and needed more to want to continue to next book.

This is part one of the story between Jolene and Lincoln.

Lincoln takes a position as the coach for the Vegas Aces and Jolene is the correspondent reporter for them. These two already have a history together. Their families hate each other and in turn they hate each other. They broke each other's hearts when they were younger but never fully got over each other. Now they have to work together and try to keep things professional.

This was such a fun read. It gave me romeo and juliet vibes with the rival families. Lincoln is trying to make his father proud and feels like it is never going to happen. Jolene has just gotten her dream job but has to work with Lincoln to keep it. The enemies to lover aspect starts out strong and keeps up throughout most of the book. You can feel the want rolling off both of them but there is just too much history and too much at stake.

This leaves off on a cliffhanger, just an FYI. This is just the beginning to their story and there is no HEA or HFN by the end of this. I am anxiously awaiting the next book to continue their story.

I am obsessed with the Vegas Aces series! I will gladly read each and every book that Lisa Suzanne releases in this world.

Rivalry is the first book in this new season, and this time it's the head coach falling in love. I fully admit that I didn't have the initial connection with either of the characters (unlike in previous seasons), but as Rivalry went on I found myself getting drawn in. There's the usual drama starting to build, and questionable side characters coming out of the woodwork. So it's the typical Vegas Aces first book set up.

I do like the tension and history between our main characters, and I'm curious to see how their relationship evolves throughout their 5 book series.

Rivalry is the first book in Lisa Suzanne's Vegas Aces: The Coach series.

Lincoln Nash becomes the head coach of the Vegas Aces football team. It's his first head coaching position, and he's looking forward to coaching the team, who just won the Super Bowl, to another victory.

Meanwhile, Jolene Bailey becomes the sports reporter that will be covering the Vegas Aces this season, and told she'll have to work closely with whoever the head coach is. The only problem? The Bailey and Nash families have a rivalry spanning years, due to both of their fathers being football players, and Lincoln and Jolene being Exs.

This first book in the series was super cute, and interesting to see how the dynamic of Lincoln and Jolene played out.

"Rivalry" sets the stage for an enthralling journey that promises an exciting ride. I'm eagerly anticipating where this story will take Lincoln and Jolene. The dynamics between them are electrifying.

Jolene, as a strong, determined, yet vulnerable single mom, is an incredibly compelling female lead. Her resilience and determination leap off the pages, making her an instant favorite. On the other hand, Lincoln, the tortured, unapologetic head coach, exudes an irresistible charm. His determination to prove himself is captivating.

What's striking about this book is the convergence of MANY tropes in one place. Second-chance romance, the exploration of first loves, forced proximity in working conditions, and the bitter family rivalry. The mere mention of all these elements only hints at the potential this story holds for these two!

I'm eagerly anticipating more flashbacks to their childhood romance, eagerly waiting to witness their past that led to their current situation. Additionally, I'm yearning for more tension and steam between them as adults. The potential for the story to delve into these areas has left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Lincoln and Jolene's journey.

it was a good read. i didn’t think it would be so short, but overall the plot was interesting and so were the mcs.

Friends to lovers with a dash forbidden love this book will hook the reader from the first page. Lincoln and Jolene have a history that shows just how thin the line between love and hate can be. Literally obsessed with this couple already, can't wait to see how everything plays out!!!

Love the Romeo and Juliet story? Meet Lincoln and Jolene the modern day football version.
I thought with the last series Lisa wrote the best couple but one book in and I've changed my mind this is the best couple she's written. This is a must read and I can't wait till the next book in this series. Here are a few of the highlights I liked.

I hope the rumor I just heard is a lie, but rumors in this line of work rarely are.

“We don’t have enough women with the balls to do what you do, and I love to see it.”

I guess feeling like you don’t have enough time
for your kids doesn’t put c*nd*ms in the cabinet.

Your new best friend is whoever the team hires as their new head coach.

hell if I’m allowing any part of my body to touch any part of his.

our families hate one another in a feud as fiery and angry as that of Montagues and the Capulets.

It was love. Of that I am confident.

But one thing is clear: I need to stay far away from Lincoln Nash.

I highly recommend this author and her books.
