Man I feel like a grumpy asshole giving such a low rating. I remember Done & Dusted being sparsely written but still enjoyable, super sweet low stakes - like a warm hug.

There were some nice moments here and Ada and Wes were sweeties - but the writing was a hot mess. Super repetitive, bland sentences. A slow middle that made it a bit of a slog to get through. I feel like we kinda lost Wes midway through and he had zero development? Also Chekov’s gun yo- Ada’s ex calls her out of the blue after two years of radio silence and she’s not interested and we never learn why he called?!?! Bad writing 101. Ada didn’t need that call to have her big revelation driving out of Meadowlark. 🤷‍♀️

It didn’t escape my notice that the indie romance I’m reading has significantly better writing quality. I think Done and Dusted was an indie that was picked up and later traditionally published? The writing in Sage’s sophomore book should have been better for a number of reasons. I’m not kidding - the s3x scene in the epilogue sounded like it was a joke s3x scene, like let’s see how bad we can write one for laughs. “Leave the cowboy hat on.” 🤮🚔

1 star for the book’s absolutely gorgeous cover.

What the heck am I supposed to do til November now?!

Idk what it is about these books but they have me in an absolute chokehold and I’m obsessed.

“You’re the moon,” he said. “And I’m the tides. You pull me in without even trying, and I come to you willingly. I always will.”

I love everyone on the Rebel Blue Ranch but Wes might be my favorite. Beside Waylon, of course.

Just like the first book this had that super cozy feeling that just wraps you up like a hug. Again, it has the Gilmore Girls feel! And just like the first book in terms of writing it’s very much the same. You don’t read these kinds of books for deep earth shattering prose. This is a cutesy easy to read cowboy romance through and through (trope-y and cliche but still fun). There are many things I loved about Swift and Saddled like the dynamic between Wes and Ada, the characters, the vibes. In some respect I enjoyed it even more than Done and Dusted. However in terms of story telling the pace was off and some of the big conflict moments happen way too late and are resolved too quickly for me.  Resulting in what felt like a super immature FMC and an ending that felt unearned in some regard. This story didn’t feel as cohesive to me in terms of plot so because of that I’m going to have to give Swift and Saddled a 3.5 ✨ I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
