So stupid. No one in this book has the brains to make it through to the end of the book. Things that could be plot points are simply dropped and wandered away from meanwhile the major hurdle in the relationship comes out of nowhere. Could have done with a meaner editor.
Two points bc I did read it quickly.
Things that made me actively angry: she tells him to wash his hands bf sex bc it could put her in the hospital AND THEN THEY HAVE DIRTY SEX WITH UNWASHED HANDS FOR THE REST OF THE BOOK!!!! INCLUDING HAVING SEX IN A BEDROOM HE IS ACTIVELY DEMOING!!!!!!!! I wanted to DIE.

Drama and Feels and Cuteness!
This book was sorta all over the place but such a good ride. The hook is Frankie and Jay meeting because she's researching rope play for her accessibility focused podcast. He just happens to be friend of a friend that teaches at the local kink club in this small coastal town that used to be a free love commune. Like ... you smile and nod because the details don't matter, they just got to get us there.
The explicit scenes are exceptionally hot. Seriously, the mouth on these two will make you blush. I was a bit sad that there wasn't more rope play scenes on page, but the ones we got were scorching and emotional. The intensity of the scenes and the trust Frankie and Jay show in their partner helps me believe the insta love.
By 50% the story shifted away from the sexual relationship to focus on emotional srorylines. And when it did swerve it went right into telenovela drama. There is a third-act breakup, but persevere and be rewarded with a Grand Gesture™️.
Also, fuck yes the disability rep for wheelchair users. We read Frankie's joy, frustration, anger, humor, stubbornness - the truth of being disabled where the general public doesn't see you or think you belong at the table. But the key takeaway here is how characters like Frankie are main characters. Thats it. Main character look like, live like, love like Frankie.

FYI - If you are apprehensive about kink or rope play, rest assured, the content is mild and accessible. Yet, for aficionados, there's just enough to whet the appetite!!!
Evie Mitchell's novel was a recommendation from other reader in one of my book club social media groups and boy was it a delightful discovery! The book's exploration of rope play is an intriguing entry point, and the portrayal of Frankie, a colorful character in a wheelchair, adds a unique dimension to the narrative. The central theme revolves around the evolving relationship between Frankie and Jay, with a refreshing emphasis on normalizing disabilities. I want to say that Jay's initial thoughts of Frankie when he saw her was nothing but outstanding writing!!! Not once did Jay see Frankie's wheelchair - he saw her in all her colorful glory!!!
The narrative thoughtfully sidesteps clichés, focusing not on Jay's ability to 'deal' with Frankie's wheelchair, but rather on his own internal battles and self-destructive tendencies due to his past and his past relationships. Frankie's unwavering resilience and infectious positivity radiate in every circumstance, rendering Jay's swift fall for her completely plausible and endearing.

Not in the mood for this spicy of a book, but had been interested because of the disability rep.
