The Intern

Marni Mann

The Intern is a scorching enemies-to-lovers romance with a little bit of everything: workplace tension, age gap, familial friendships, and a health dose of steam.

Hannah and Declan do not get along when they meet (again) as intern and boss. Enemies is a strong way of putting it, for me--Declan is angry, curt, and insufferable, but his ire, though often directed toward Hannah, is a product of his tightly-held, yet fraying, self control to stay away from Hannah. After all, she's the younger sister AND cousin of his friends...who run the law firm they both work at. Hannah is smart, competent, and confident: all traits that drew Declan to her before he knew her last name. Now, with her off-limits as ever, he resorts to taking out his temper on anyone around, which happens to be, most often, Hannah. With so many older brothers and a promising law career though, Hannah is not one to back down, no matter how much of a jerk Declan turns out to be.

Special callout to brownies, apple cupcakes, and the cutest little cousin.

Hannah and Declan's story was steamy and quite entertaining. A litigator and the intern, their meet was steamy, and now everything is on the line for these two. They have to find a way to make it work and see if they even want to do this. So many emotions, I really liked the way t was written and I can't help but be attracted to these types of stories. The series is so good, I recommend you read them all.

...all imma say is I hated that I started my year with this book LOL. Such a bore truly. Romance was just not there- then to make it worse this just felt like a Wattpad book that accidentally got published to early. I'm not a big fan of romance that automatically blooms, and that's what this felt like. :/

I like asshole heroes as much as the next girl but Declan was working my last nerve. The way he talked to Hannah had me ready to throw my kindle clear across the room. I loved the first book in the series and while I haven't been keeping up with the other books, this one looked awesome.

Unfortunately for me, it fell short. I'm fully aware this was a me thing. I know a lot of people will absolutely love this book. I just had a problem with how Declan treated Hannah. How he talked to her. I just couldn't get past the feeling that Declan was just interested in his own pleasure and wants and didn't actually care about Hannah.

I will say, the one big bright spot in this book was that he acted like an adult and had the difficult conversations about their relationship. Overall, this won't be a reread for me.

The dirty talk in this book was top notch.

Bless you, Marni Mann! The addictive Dalton Brothers series now includes the extended Dalton family. Hannah, the Dalton brothers’ cousin, charmed me in The Single Dad, and I was curious about her antagonistic relationship with her boss. The Intern breaks it all down in an engaging way, with a hefty dose of Mann’s signature sizzling heat.

When Declan, the top litigator in the state, mentors Hannah’s law class, sparks begin to fly. I liked the fact that it isn’t her beauty that makes her stand out. It’s Hannah’s poise, confidence, and competence in the mock trial that really capture his attention. He has no clue she’s a Dalton

After their one-night stand, Declan is shocked to discover Hannah is a Dalton—a family of successful lawyers and owners of a prestigious law firm. Furthermore, both are surprised when she gets assigned to be his intern. He does everything in his power to get her reassigned, including being abrasive and basically a jerk.

I appreciated just how smart and driven Hannah is. She might be attracted to Declan, but she doesn’t let the fog of lust derail her goals or impact her ability to be a stellar intern. Speaking of attraction—Holy Mother of Hotness! Declan is one dirty-talking alpha male. He and Hannah burn up the sheets—and the alley, and boardroom, office, and… You get the picture. Their chemistry is off the charts.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Intern, and it looks like Hannah’s twin brother will be getting his own book next. I’ve already added The Bachelor to my To Be Read lit!

I am having such a love hate relationship with this series right now 😭 I am loving the characters and the overall plot, but I am unaliving inside due to all the miscommunication and overreactions... Declan is supposed to be a older man and they way he responded to Hannah coming clean had me cringing so hard...

That being said, when these two were working they were adorable and I loved the angst and tension of the boss employee enemies and office place romance. They were so much fun and so hot too.

The audio was great. Lee Samuels and Savannah Peachwood were both fantastic and I really enjoyed their work on this audiobook.

I really liked how fast paced this book was. It was spicy from the beginning & the tropes were perfection. I loved Hannah’s sweet but also confident attitude and Declan’s bulldog attitude and “I’ve only got a sweet spot for her” feelings. He was a complete jerk to her and she gave it right back (most of the time). I loved the push and pull of their relationship, in and out of the workplace.

I just find it hard to see Hannah and Declan as realistic. Especially with her being 21-23 and him being in his 30s. He really found no one to settle down with until he saw Hanna in college where he mentored? Then on top of that instead of working through his issues he was just angry. Hannah had no spine and just took the scraps he offered.
