Hmmm sometimes i’ll listen to older audiobooks from my Libby because why not? I dont want to pay for audible or everand subscriptions at the moment.  Sometimes I really enjoy the books…. Sometimes they’re just ok…

This book was just ok for me…and there’s really not much for me to say except…. It helped fill the e silence when I walk my dog and did chores.  It was good enough that I kept listening, but a few days later it was sort of forgetful too…

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗲𝘀:
💛Age gap
💛Sports romance (sort of)
💛Found family
💛Troubled past
💛Temporary Fake Fiancé (not really what you think)

I am still laughing at the plot of this book. I don't know if it was the writing, the characters or the whole scheme that has me shaking my head in displeasure with this read.

I had a really hard time getting into this story from the first page. It felt forced, the characters were one dimensional, and there was hardly any spark between the two main characters. I knew about 50 pages into the story that it was not going to get much better. Even with the story problems and such, I kept reading hoping for the best.

I still cannot remember one thing I liked about this book. Oh wait! The cover has to be my favorite thing. Those peek at me abs were very sexy, but the romance inside was not. This is true to the saying of don't judge a book by its cover. The story was boring, the characters still didn't have any type of personality by the end and left this reader wondering what the heck I read.

Overall, this one was a failure for me. I did finish the story but it left me with no excitement for a follow up in the series.

I wanted to like this story, really I did, but the story kept getting in the way of me liking it. The premise could have been so interesting and at first the characters were promising, but as the story progressed I found myself unable to enjoy the plot or the characters enough to focus. None of the characters has that little something extra that made reading them worth my time. Luc was a little too self-centered and ego driven for my tastes and Tara Jean was just confusing as hell. One minute she has promising qualities and then the next she was trying to make herself seem like a hard ass. Even if she has good reason to be resistant she needed a bit more humanity for me to like her. And the secondary characters were terrible. The only person I really liked was the little boy and he had hardly any book time.
So instead of forcing myself to keep reading when I’m fighting to stay awake from the books effects on my brain. Not sure if I’ll keep trying this series but we'll see.

Tara Jean knew she was playing a role, pretending to be the fiance of an aging rancher, but she still cared for Lyle and wanted to help him find peace before his passing. She knew that when Lyle's kids finally came home there would be anger and tension. What she didn't expect was to fall for Lyle's son, Luc. Luc promised himself he would never be back on the ranch, growing up had been a personal hell, but he cannot let Tara Jean take advantage of his father. What he finds is definitely not what he was expecting, especially since Tara Jean is a lot more down to earth and less gold digger. With no plans to stay he knows he can't fall for her but can't help himself. When Tara Jean's past threatens her future will Luc help her overcome? Sweet story but I had a hard time falling for the main characters. There was a lot of anger and tension between everyone, including the secondary characters, that there did not seem to be a lot of happy in this HEA. I'm intrigued for where the series can go, there's a lot of potential.

I feel like I've read this before and i know I haven't so it must be pretty similar to something else I've read somewhere down the line lol. It was a decent book fast read likeable characters.

I feel embarrassed to post this book on Goodreads. There is such a stigma around romance novels, especially when they have covers as ridiculous as this one. However, I really enjoyed this book. It was slightly cheesy at times, but I think I was looking for that. Overall, it kept my attention and had a good story. It was really no different from a "normal" book except the sex scenes were a little more detailed. The characters dealt with problems besides their relationships, which surprised me even though it shouldn't have.

Good, not great. Liked the grittiness of the story. But something was a little off for me with the characters. They were hard to pin down, which is not necessarily unrealistic, but it made them come across as a bit inconsistent.
