After tragically losing her fiancé in a freak medical accident, Reese needs a fresh start. After moving across the pond from England to New York, she makes fast friends & finds a dark and handsome stranger who intrigues her at every turn. They drunkenly elope, and feelings develop. When drama unfolds & lots of secrets come to light, they have no clue how to make any of it right.

I gave this story 3 ⭐️’s. I am easily entertained, and I love the best friend’s dad trope, as well as age gap. This story was right up my alley in that regard! I enjoyed the drama and secrets.

However, I felt the writing was not great. There were a lot of grammatical errors, which may have been a result of the vernacular of the author’s everyday life, but I’m not sure. There were also a lot of points in the story where the writing jumped or was almost looked over. We would be in the middle of a very descriptive scene taking place in Reese’s apartment and the next paragraph just jumped to her at work already. It felt rushed & simply wasn’t well thought out. I felt like this should have been on Wattpad. Iykyk.

Regardless of these writing issues, I still enjoyed this story. As I’ve said, I’m easily entertained. If you need the writing to be top notch, you probably will not like this.

Not going to lie, I predicted everything that happened about 1/4 in but it was entertaining in some ways. I feel like all of the relationships in the book needed time to develop, they all just happened.

I am so in love with this book, OMG. Seriously loved it. Both Killian and Reese are completely lovable. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star is because I don’t necessarily love a slow burn, and the plot was pretty predictable honestly, but most DEFINITELY worth a read if you want to laugh, cry, and have a great HEA

This was just…not a great book. The sex scenes were spicy, but I eventually started to skim even those as I was struggling to not DNF the book.

I thought the early chapters of grief for Elijah was laying it on a little thick but ok, establishing background for FMC. Then insta bff with Connie (and in such a trite sorority girl “luv ya bitch tits way”) should have been my first clue the book was gonna tank. Next clue was FMC & MMC so drunk they flew via private jet from NYC to Las Vegas, got married, and flew back to NYC and FMC has no recollection whatsoever. Later MMC admits to being drunk but not as drunk as FMC but never reveals why they got married or why he wants her to suddenly be his wife for real. I stick with the book bc I have hangups about DNF’ing books, but it just gets worse.

Sooooo much miscommunication & pettiness & oh look FMC went in to get an IVF work up & surprise you are already pregnant! Right about the time the FMC has a random fortune telling I started skimming the book to finish. An absurd amount of unnecessary third act drama….the icing on the “why did I keep reading this book” cake was the FMC finding out the MMC had a heart transplant…and the heart he got was…wait for it…from when her dead fiancé! I dont know if this was supposed to be a tear jerking full circle moment or what, but it made me want to throw the book across the room.

I mostly enjoyed this book.

I read it in a day and found it to be enjoyable enough to keep me reading.

The older man/age gap/taboo forbidden romance trope is one of my favourites and this book delivered that well. The spice was also very well written.

There were some issues with the grammar that I didn't quite get on with though. There was multiple instances of the author using the word 'done' when it should have been 'did' and that just bugged me.

It also involved pregnancy which is my least favourite trope.

Dear Heart

This was a really good book, I couldn’t put it down and devoured it in one day. Reese and Killian omgosh. The imagery of Killian as Daniel Gillies (even better). This book is delicious I highly recommend.
