I have ready Narnia cover to cover, first to last, 3 times over now in my life and still find myself returning to it when my pool of whimsy and fantastical hope is draining.

This books is timeless and magical, striking at my emotions by day, and entering my dreams by night. No matter how old I get, this series is a classic I can never forget. From the exquisite description of each portrayal of Narnia, to the young heroes that explore it through life-changing experiences that bring them together. No matter what your age might be, your fantasy library is not complete without this series.

We follow Lucy Edmund Susan and Peter on a journey to Narnia, after awakening the Ice Queen.

A classic the one that we know and love.

As the youngest I probably felt this one the most out of all of the Chronicles. I love this book because it shows the consequences of betrayal, truth, redemption, and belief. Basically the things that make us human and what makes us good.

Oh so long, but the world buildings and narration is so good.

Be warned: these books get extremely religious. The first few are good and aren't as obvious, but the last few are very religious and not tolerant of other people/religions. Since the religious aspect takes a front seat, they are hard to get through (said by someone who went to Christian schools from kindergarten through college).

Also, I think Lewis ran out of ideas towards the end because the stories weren't very engaging. As a whole, these books are OK, but truthfully, even without the in-your-face religious aspect, I don't really get the hype.

There are low points and high points to this series, but on the whole I give it a complete & full five stars. My favorite series from childhood, and one I revisit regularly. I still remember reading them for the first time. My 7-in-1 edition was read so often it split in half and I had to repurchase it. Even after you've grown up, if you haven't read the series yet, it really is a must-read.

This book went on forever.
I read “The Chronicles of Narnia” when I was younger and I liked it well enough. However, I was reading a forum looking for book recommendations and I saw some people trashing C.S. Lewis. They said he was too heavy handed with his Christian message (they said he just retold bible stories with talking animals) and that he wasn’t a good writer.
I guess I missed all that the first time because after rereading the books as an adult, I agree that they are flawed. Some of the books are little more than a long winded ramble (“The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” for example.) Most of the Chronicles were enjoyable enough though, although the sexism and racism was a distraction. The stories also need a better editor. C.S. Lewis described people’s faces as pale so often it started to piss me off.
In his book, girls are weak and women who are trying to take power are evil. Aslan pretty much told the children he was Jesus.
I dunno, I’m just glad it’s over. On to the next book!

Liest sich wie ein Kinderbuch, was es vermutlich auch ist. Nichtsdestotrotz ein Buch bzw. Eine Buchreihe die man gelesen haben sollte.
