I loved this hippy story! It was very significant to my friends and myself for a while... pretty silly!

My favourite "children's" picture book to ever exist. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Awesome book! The book starts with "once upon a time" making the reader think it's a fairy tale --two caterpillars, Stripe and Yellow, fall in love, and one would think they'd live happily ever after. Not so. Why? Because life happens ... This simple story basically portrays human life--its innocence, boredom, dissatisfaction, following the crowd, love, hope, despair, etc. What will you take from it?

The illustrations were trippy as hell and I still don't know if the message was pro-drug or anti-drug. We may never know.

I've read this book more times than I can count over the years. Helped me through some hard times and always gave me hope. Definitely a nostalgic book for me.

A parable on ambition and finding one’s place in the world. Or perhaps about the way that the contemplative path is only reached through humility. “A tale partly about life - partly about revolution and lots about hope.” Some lovely ideas in here, and the simple drawings and colours are charming - but the messages are confused. Parable and allegory are hard to get to grips with, and perhaps this is over ambitious?

I checked this out from Solidarity back in the day. It is one of my favorite kiddie books if I am feeling down.
