I have only just discovered this author. Loved the Magic Midlife book, am a bit on the fence about Born in Fire. But this one... oohhh. This one I adore. It gives me butterflies - which is about all I ask for in a book these days, and trust me, it happens far too infrequently. 69% read, it is now almost 11 PM and I have this feeling I need to finish this tonight. :)

The clumsy and chaotic FMC Penelope/Penny and the overdramatic humorous actions in the book took a while for me to start enjoying, but happy to continue to the next book in the series.

There is such great chemistry between the main characters Penny and Emery. I have shipped them as "Penery" in my mind. They are the best blend of awkward and sultry. The characters are so perfectly written. I love love love the bad assery that is Penny's mother. Let the mom loose and the hilarity ensues. If you love action-packed, wild imaginary magic from two talented fantasy characters with a large helping of humor, this book is for you! 5 star read for sure!

Well this isn't the worst book I read by any means, not even close, but for some reason it was so difficult to go through it. I almost quit it so many times. I don't know why I didn't enjoy this book to be honest.

loved everything about this book. Penny was awesome. She was so naive but had inner strength and intelligence that that everyone could see and emery was so broken and focused on vengeance . The two are perfect together and i need the next book now.

Good but some hard to follow

Some parts I had to reread because I didn't quite follow what it was supposed to mean. It felt like work reading some parts. I did enjoy the overall story though

Great start!

Now just reel me in!
Enjoyed getting to know Penny and her Rouge Natural. Here's to hoping she gets her way. Will definitely be coming back to find out.

Bumping up because I liked the main character better in this than in the first trilogy of Demon Days, Vampire Nights, Darius and Reagan, as Reagan is a bit too off the wall for me. Still it was fun. In this one, the story was not as compelling and read like an NA. All the same, the main character is fun and her protective mom is also though annoying at times. I'm reading [b:Warrior Fae Trapped (Warrior Fae, #1)|49972782|Warrior Fae Trapped (Warrior Fae, #1) (Demon Days, Vampire Nights, #7)|K.F. Still I'm liking the story a bit more. They all crossover a very little and I think it is building up for Darius and Reagan's show down with Lucifer.

Overall, this book had excellent premise. The plot and worldbuilding were intriguing. However, the characters lacked development and brains. It was way to insta-lovey. It would have been much better if the author had focused on developing the characters
