LOVEEEEE very glad I decided to read this series also it makes reading tmi all that much better and makes things make more sense. Slightly disappointed bc everyone was raving about how this is a 5 star book and best in the series but I didn't think it was particularly any better than the other 2 but I still really enjoyed it

It's a 3.5, but I'm rounding it down because od 2 things:

- I was not thrilled with the first 2 books and somehow no matter how much better this book was, it's being pulled down by the others

- Because of this (dierctly taken from Clare's website) : "You can read TMI first, or The Infernal Devices first. It doesn't matter. In an ideal world, I generally recommend you read Clockwork Angel and the others between City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels, as it flows with the way the characters from one series connect to the characters in the next, but neither series spoils the other and it genuinely doesn't matter which you read first." BULLSHIT. But because I naively believed that, I read TMI first. Anyone with a brain would've figured out who Brother Zachariah was as soon as they started reading Clockwork Princess. So yeah, Jem's fate was spoiled by TMI and it took away from my reading experience.

“She realised she had forgotten the precise blue of his eyes” someone sedate me

AMAZING.

Fine. I'm addicted now. I need more Shadowhunters.

2,5. I don’t know what to say about this. It wasn’t that bad? But it was sometimes? Writing felt off, even though this is the third book they mentioned everything as if it was new information somehow. And explained the parabatai thing like a million times. I got it after the first, I don’t need to read about it like 10 times more. It was a whole lot of romance/love driven book and I just didn’t care. Was interesting to see this sort of polyamorous relationship between Jem, Tessa and Will. Didn’t understand or cared to understand the other storylines between Gabriel, Cecily and Gideon, the whole Consul and all. Just skimmed through those parts. Plot felt a bit rushed? The whole automations and Mortmain were most of all background noise and it didn’t really feel like it could be a teribble war or anything that was about to happen.

I still remember how this book tore me apart. I was thankful I read this book before Heavenly Fire because of SPOILERS. Anyway! I still can't decide which of the trilogy I enjoyed the most but let me tell you that they were spectacular! I consider the Infernal Devices so much better than the Mortal Instruments. Parabatai feels, brotherly feels, ship feels and all of them tore me apart. Can we just talk about the epilogue of this book?! OMG. So great! Highly recomended.

Spoiler what I didn't like about this book is that she practically ended up with both. but yea...

Lovedddd the ending. Was hard to get through the first part of the book but the ending was beautiful and just SO moving. 4.5/5
