I'm gonna start and say I didn't enjoy this as much as the Fine Print. There were just a few things that I wasn't a fan of, and this made the story a little disappointing for me. To start with, I know we met the characters in the Fine Print, but personally I didn't feel as much empathy for Iris and Declan as I did for Rowan and Zahra, even though all 4 had past trauma. I felt more sorry for Declan, as you could see all the problems him and his brothers had with his dad.
SpoilerI think it would have been better to hear more about Iris' story with her dad so you could properly understand why she was so upset with Declan after their argument. I thought the engagement and wedding were quite rushed, and I think her mum would have put up more of a fight of her marrying someone like her father. More to the point why didn't anyone say "why are you marrying your boss?!". Lastly, the grovelling was really poor IMO. There's no way I'd have forgiven all what Declan said by him buying a dog, a van and proposing. Everything he said in that said argument was also a bit too much too, like they could have just left it as him saying she made an error, he didn't need to go into the whole "You failed" and "Do your job properly", I honestly thought I can't imagine Declan saying that after his love declaration in the previous chapters. Lastly I would have liked to see if anything resolved between Declan and his Dad, I guess we'll get more in Cal's book but would have been nice to get an idea as it was kind of forgotten about in the abrupt ending.
I'll finish off by saying what I thought was good - I loved Zahra's and Iris' blossoming friendship, I can totally imagine these two getting on and becoming close friends. I also really liked Cal's character, takes a lot to stand up to family and I agree with everything he said to Declan, I'm intrigued to read his book next!

I've thoroughly enjoyed every book by Lauren Asher that I've read so far, but this one might be my favorite yet. I enjoyed 'The Fine Print', but Asher perfected the grumpy x sunshine relationship here. It was just so good. Like, I couldn't stop smiling as I read. I don't think that the relationship was as memorable as Zahra and Rowan's in terms of grandness, but it seemed a lot more fluid and natural.

Iris and Declan were a long time coming, and it felt so right to have them get together. Sometimes romances feel like a whirlwind of unrealistic events after another, but that didn't happen here (at least for me). I loved the banter between them, and Iris' friendship with Cal. Very precious. This did kind of set a bar for what I expect from 'Final Offer', and I'm terrified I won't enjoy it as much because I love Cal.

Lauren Asher CONQUERED with this one. Reading this installment made me realize just how lonely I actually am! I loved this one WAY more than the fine print actually and to me the best thing about this entire book is IRIS she is just the absolute best ceo-romance-main-character I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about and her dynamic with her family, with Declan and even with Cal, Rowan and Zahra just proved that she is TOP TIER. No one can compare.
Also Declan was just the perfect male love interest for a CEO romance: anger issues, extreme sense of independence, being used to getting his way all the time! and despite all of that Iris came along and turned him into a better man without completely erasing his personality which I find realistic and really likeable. Overall, YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK I BEG

While it might not leave the same kind of wounds as fists, words can do more damage than anything.

I'm beginning to suspect assholery - if that's even a word - is a family trait in the Cane family

CRYING SCREAMING THROWING MYSELF INTO TRAFFIC

Declan Kane you made up for the shortcomings of your brother and the way you loved Iris?! DEAD. The war Declan realized his mistakes and continued to love and pine after Iris made me melt. Such a good read!!

I went into this book blind to the plot, but motivated by the countless praise I saw on twitter. The day I bought it, I was actually looking for The Fine Print, except there wasn't a physical copy at the store so I found myself googling Terms and Conditions instead to make sure I could read it as a standalone. So I brought it home 4 days ago and, to my mother's desmay, finished it and am ready to move on to my next read "way too quickly" as she put it.
This book was unexpected in lots of ways. First and foremost because it made me laugh. Truly, I was laughing out loud before I knew it. I'm not sure why I was so surprised at the humour in it, but maybe it's because very few books tend to get an actual real laugh out of me. This one did, more than once.
Second of all, I feel like when you see people talking about a specific book online and they all focus on the romantic aspects of it, you tend to forget that the characters exist as individuals as well and not just as a pair. This book isn't just about Declan and Iris. It's about Declan. And Iris. Together as well as seperate.
I say this because the book didn't just focus on their relationship but also on their individual struggles, hopes and dreams. The dual POV is great in this aspect.
I loved reading about Iris's struggles and homelife and how she grew and overcame them. I loved reading about Declan's worst fear and his ultimate decision to be better. It was beautiful.
Admittedly, Declan did rub me the wrong way in some instances, but that also made him a very nuanced character in a way, which I'm grateful for.
Iris was my favorite. The epitome of strength, kindness, selflessness and intelligence.
I was really surprised at how much I related to her in some ways, and in awe of her ability to keep going and achieve everything she wanted.
As a couple, Declan and Iris seemed to me, at some point, utterly terrible for eachother.I felt like there was this unhealthy codependency bewteen them which translated into Iris always coming when Declan needed anything at all, consequently disregarding her own needs and wishes, and Declan being so certain that she would always come that he didn't even think about her well being. I'm glad they did break that cycle and managed to find a way to depend on eachother while also setting and respecting boundaries.

Overall, this was a really fun read and I can't wait to read The Fine Print.

Grumpy mean boss (they are brothers, so of course), hard-working assistant, inheritance, marriage.
Second book after The Fine Print.
I really enjoyed this book not as much as The Fine Print, but I did.
The storyline, for this one was a forced marriage between a boss and his assistant.
The progression of their relationship was great, but you could see there was always something there.
I would definitely suggest this series, but only to readers who enjoy a bit of spice in their books .
