I liked that one better than the first in the series. It's the third book by this author that I have read so far and I keep coming back to her work because I like her writing, her characters and the pacing of her stories. I think, overall, she does a fine job at writing romance, and maybe she's even getting better at it with time, actually (I liked way more some of her more recent works).

Some of the shortcomings of the first one are not as present here: the trashiness was toned down (thank god!) and the setting was better handled. Politics and royalty-focused background was not more detailed, but this time that's kinda ok since the prince is no longer the main character. The relationships with the supporting cast is also better (which, I mean, the fact it exist at all already makes it better than in the last book!). A few well constructed interactions and couple nice snippets of dialogues were all it took to make those bonds meaningful. It brings depth to both the story and the main characters and make us care more for this fictional world.
There was less of that annoying macho confusion between power and threats in that book, too.
SpoilerWasn't a fan of Logan and Tommy going to beat to a pulp the asshole who back-slapped Ellie, for example, but it kinda made sense with who those characters are and were they come from... though I suspect I was supposed to find this kinda hot or something, maybe. Well, I didn't but heh. On the other hand, this scene with Ellie asking for an apology at gunpoint was so utterly ridiculous, I almost laughed out loud.
But, and it's in the same vein, the book still suffered for somewhat clumsy attempts at badassery and other showiness. Those are always tricky: the line between a goose-bumps inducing moment and an eye-rolling, cringe-worthy disaster is always pretty thin. It depends on context, build-up and execution. In this book, it is not abysmal... buuuut, it stills read as maybe inexperienced. Some dialogues or exchanges come off as forced, out of place or too long/explanatory to feel realistic. Some scenes do feel "ad-hoc" and seeing their purpose that clearly does break a bit the immersion.

That being said, it is decent, the characters are more likable than in the first book - and I mean all of them: I liked Nicholas tons more in that book than in his own story! - and the portraying of supporting cast and supporting relationships was done well enough that there was a strong feeling of belonging and community around the main couple, which was heart warming.

Side note: I never heard "da" used for dad when I lived in Scotland. Granted it was years ago, but I wonder. I read somewhere it could be an Irish thing? Dunno, was just surprised by this, if someone ever read this review and knows about it, please tell me \o/

Royally Endowed is the third book in the Royally series by the talented Emma Chase. I've been a fan of Emma's for a long time! I know when I read one of her books I'm going to be thoroughly entertained to the point of crying from laughing, fanning myself from the sexiness and crying from the emotions! Royally Endowed is my favorite from the series! Emma brought out her A Game with this one! Logan and Ellie are perfection together. Logan with his handsomeness and sexy accent and Ellie with her quirkiness and hilarity. I didn't want to stop reading. I was obsessed with seeing how their story played out. Could the bodyguard and the princess's sister fall in love? What happens when he can't always be there to protect her? I loved this story! The slow burn of this romance was just what I needed! I loved the dual point of view and knowing the history and how it all started for them. I can't even express how funny they are! I was dying from laughing! I wanted to be Ellie! Logan may be one of my favorite Emma heroes!

This bodyguard may have a service revolver in his pocket, but he's got a magnum in his pants. Yum.

"Have you missed me?"
"I burn for you, sweet girl. I dream of you, even when I'm awake."

He laughs
And it's beautiful.
It's a crime he doesn't do it more often. Or maybe it's a blessing. Because Logan St. James is a sexy, stunning man on any given day. But when he laughs?
He's heart-stopping.

I had owned the paperback of this for awhile, but then decided to try the audiobook. Unfortunately the male narrator was the same as who does Hardin on the After series audiobooks, I think, and so I had trouble hearing him as this character. So even though I started listening in April, I didn't get around to picking up the paperback to finish it until September. Once I did that, though, it was a very quick read. While it was interesting to see how Ellie and Logan got together finally, their romance a very edgy and drawn out one, probably just a little lacked due to not having any true royalty as a part of them. But not enough to be truly disappointing or make the story not good. Logan had a background that was dark and led into so many twisting points in the story. And it was great to have the two of them with their own types of connections to our other characters from the first two books so that we could still get our fill of the royals. Good, even if not my favorite of the bunch. Also, I posted my review of the 4th book earlier this week, had a deadline thanks to a review tour, but if you read that review, you'll understand it didn't matter to read out of order, even though I didn't.

I have a special corner of Hell in my mind for books that promise me the earth in the beginning and then don't deliver. How dare you?!

[b:Royally Endowed|30176334|Royally Endowed (Royally, #3)|Emma Chase|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493399991l/30176334._SX50_.jpg|50617673] earned its VIP place in my personal firepit when it morphed from a promising slow-burn to... I literally do not know, a hollow and cliché remake of every fucking bodyguard romance out there?

Starring...
✓ a breathtaking (that's because my brain is choking on too much stupid) story of some dangerous stalker whose name I don't remember (bwahahahahaha/twisting mustache/*in a singing voice* you're a cheap plot device plot device plot device)
✓ KIDS, OMG, so many pregnancies and kids because cuuuuuuuuute (I guess?) (I do love kids, but the cheap epilogues make me gag more often than not, and with 3 couples on page here, it was too much)
✓ Weddings of characters I don't care about (BUT that's on me, I haven't read the first books because really?! Princes? DUDE. Have you met me? I am utterly unable to grasp what's so interesting about princes, in life and books just the same)
✓ Terrible sex-scenes, oh my god the sex-scenes were so
u n d e r w h e l m i n g
(in the usual oh gosh, I love how you fill me, completely, is that my bellybutton you're touching? kind of way) that I skimmed them (which is always very telling in my opinion).

Truly, I loved Logan in the beginning - I even texted my best friend with infatuated nonsense - and I thought that [b:Royally Endowed|30176334|Royally Endowed (Royally, #3)|Emma Chase|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493399991l/30176334._SX50_.jpg|50617673] had the potential to make my little heart beat. Alas, that was before both leads started to... talk to me as if I was their therapist? I mean, really. The story's taking place through more than 5 years, therefore at first? I understood the way the chapters were written. Think short scenes, multiple jumps in time, focus-focus now we're done. I even enjoyed it. BUT. I didn't expect that this particular storytelling would go on and on and on during most of the book, and I quickly became very tired of the characters telling me (boring) things I wanted to see (maybe not, actually), thank you very much. The chemistry just... fizzled out (and not in a melting on the floor kind of way) and I started reading faster and faster (yep, that would be skimming) until the stalker subplot began (destroying my interest forever).

Oh my GOD. Have I really read the love-story between Miss Pixie Dream Girl (who has cute breasts and stuff) and her caveman-but-sweet spechul guard? That needs to stop. My binge-read of romance novels is getting out of hands and I'll be heartless before I know it (and I'll have no friends, probably)

Don't say it's too late. Don't. Please don't.

Honestly though, I know that many of you think that I'm too hard on romance novels and maybe I am? But here's how I see things : let's face it, most romance novels have no breathtaking plots, are predictable, unoriginal and cliché : so if I feel meh about the whole thing, if I don't fall in love, what's the fucking point? None, as far as I'm concerned.
