I was sold when the description said Bridesmaids meets Emily In Paris. I'm impressed at how often I laughed at loud and I love when karma is served
Loved the premise of this. It was a perfect beach read! Bits were lacking for me throughout. Mostly the main relationship. There were moments of banter that were hilarious I was laughing out loud, but also moments that felt like they could be much more developed. Overall though, while the plot line was a little out there, it was still a fun and enjoyable read.
4.5⭐️ A great read though I was a bit disappointed with the ending…the readers need to know what happens professionally-wise….Poor Amy had a very revealing and embarrassing incident that was unfortunately filmed. To escape her embarrassment, she moves to London to start over. I felt for Amy with all that she went through and how she dealt with it all. I loved the romance
Extremely mid. Didn’t care about the characters or the story really. Wouldn’t rec.
❤️ RomCom Review ❤️
I love a hot-mess redemption story and The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent delivered on that.

The title of the book is misleading. You would think the majority of the plot was actually planning and carrying out revenge against a jilted lover who screwed over the main female character. Instead, it was only maybe 2 pages of the book. Not kidding.
I had a hard time getting into this book because while I think Chris was an insecure f*ckboi with some semblance of power, I didn't care for the main female character Amy Duffy, who refers to herself in 3rd person, more than once. While there's nothing wrong with confidence, hers was veering on arrogance. Jake was actually a dreamy Brit who deserved better than to be used by Amy to climb the corporate ladder as a creative in tv development. The romance only took up the last few pages, so it was just somewhat misleading to call this a romance. I liked the part about the development of a tv show. Maybe I would've watched it, too.
Amy pushed away Jake's natural inclination toward human interest drama stories toward her own love of grisly murder. She was selfish at times and not particularly quick to believe the whole fool me twice thing that she's warned about by friends and family. And her embarrassing story that Chris is holding over her head? He deserved every bit but was over the top tbh. I just didn't connect with Amy at all. She skips her cousin's wedding in which she was a bridesmaid because she lost her job and boyfriend?? It did get better from the beginning, but tbh it should have been a dnf. 2 stars. [Library book at least]

DNF at 30%. Painfully unfunny. The jacket outlined what could have been an interesting plot bit. Instead I was just waiting for the story to get there. I read 118 pages. I feel like it could have been condensed to 43 pages and get to the point faster. BTW, is this a re-skinned Bridget Jones Diary fic?
The Sweetest Revenge had me hooked in the beginning but towards the end, I found myself really unable to connect with the MC Amy. As others have mentioned, I found myself really questioning her decisions toward the later half of the book. While it was really obvious that Amy and Jake were attracted to each other...their chemistry didn't really jump off the page.
