WOW! This book is deep! I loved Asher and Bex SO much I didn't want it to end. Objectively, there are some DARK themes in this book, like, no spoilers but these kids have both been put through the ringer! They are both going through something terrible, and neither of them are dealing with it in a very healthy way so they forge their own path. Bex is so strong and constantly being overlooked. Asher is dead set on what he feels is the right way to deal with the trauma but even HE can see while he's not evil he's certainly not in any way nice to Bex. Both of them are let down by their parents and are able to find some semblance of peace with each other. They most certainly deserve their happy ever after! I hated for them to go through so much pain. To be together they both have to overcome things within themselves and heal their own pain before helping each other heal. Its just a beautiful story and I loved them together! They are so deserving of the happiness they find in each other. I also LOVE Gabe so I'm super excited his story is next! This author just keeps outdoing herself so I can't wait to see what she has in store for him!

I've been reading Julia's work for a while now, and honestly, I must say she is coming into her own as an author. Her voice is becoming more robust, and each book she writes resonates deeply with her readers. This journey into dark bully romance has been unexpectedly engrossing. The first book and characters were beyond what I expected with characters of dimension and depth, who evoked real emotions from you as you read their story. I thought I sort of knew what to expect with Through the Ashes, and once again, Julia has produced something so profoundly moving that weeks later, I'm still feeling Bex and Asher.

Bex and Asher's story is like different sides of the same coin. Both from families that look for all appearances like everything is excellent on the inside. However, the ones residing in those houses know different; how parents, through not caring or caring too much (particularly about what others think), can damage their children deeply. That damage bleeds all over the family, leaving siblings to try to hold the family together. It's a no-win situation. Bex and Asher are trying in their own ways just to get through their last year of school. However, fate has a different path for them that puts them on a collision course. What neither expects is each other, and it's not necessarily what the other wants. Know how magnets turned one way irresistibly are drawn together, but when you turn them the other way, they repel each other? They were like magnets. One moment has irresistibly drawn them together; the next moment, they are repelling each other hurtfully. Their story and how they come through it moves them in the way that bonds them together.

Through the Ashes can be a challenging emotional read at times. There is a lot of pain, anger, and sorrow coursing through this book, the beauty at the end is worth it. Read this series; read this book; it has elevated the dark bully romance to new heights.

I like Bex but I hated Asher. He lacked all the traits I need in a character such as his to be a believable romantic interest. His "bully" was really just emotional abuse, the "drama" was boring and overdone and I dunno... the story was scattered and all over the place.

Bash and grace were hard to top

But Asher and Bex did! What a roller coaster ride their relationship put them through! Fell in love with Gabe also! This book is action packed in regards to emotions! A must read book and a must read series!

Through the Ashes follows Bex and Asher, after a one night stand, Bex leaves without a word and Asher is more than angry. The angst and tension in this book was excellent however I really struggled with their relationship.

Asher was mean, he did some truly horrible acts in order to get revenge and overall found him controlling and manipulative, especially when it came to Bex’s brother. There were some occasions where I understood his behaviour but most of the time I found it toxic.

Bex was also a character that struggles - bullied, family drama whilst simulatanously trying to keep it together. She was by fire the strongest character, and honestly, she deserved more than Asher!

Despite this, I highly recommend some of Julia Wolf’s other work.

Another very sexy psycho bully romance for the Savage Crew - this time it's Asher and Bex, and they are connected in ways Bex did not see coming. We start with a tragedy and it throws Bex's already crap home life into further disarray. She makes some impulsive choices that unknowingly put her right where Asher wants her.
And then he torments her - at first to punish her, and then because he can't let her go.
These two are borderline violent with one another, so hungry for connection and affection that they damn near eat one another alive.
If you want something very dark with hints of sweetness, this is it.
