This was super cute! I noticed a lot of parallels between this and GALCB, especially yeh characters Ruth and Chloe. I think some of the story seemed too quick for me, and I can definitely see the authors growth between writing this and GALCB. Regardless, I really enjoyed this read and would recommend!

Overall I thought this book was cute.

However, I did think that there was something kind of formulaic and just not organic about the characters and the pacing of the story. One moment I’d be really enjoying it, and then another I’d be left a bit confused by the way a scene was explained or by the actions of a character.

I liked most of the romance between Ruth and Ethan but some parts of it didn’t feel nearly fleshed out enough.

I definitely want to continue on with the series and see if some of the other installments impress me a bit more!

I liked the relationship between Evan and Ruth but that was about it. The plot was non-substantial and the book was longer than it needed to be. All in all it was a okay book but nothing to call home about.

My god there is just something about Talia Hibbert's writing that has me completely entranced. Like one second I'm on chapter one and I blink and I'm half-way through the story. This just pulled me in and never let me go, every time I considered putting it down and sleeping I they said something that intrigued me. Just genuine good writing and plot lines. Ruth and Evan's relationship development made my heart so happy, just an honest good book. Also big FU to Daniel and the rest of the town!

Cute. I love Talia Hibbert’s newer work and you can see how this one rhymes with the Brown sisters trilogy and shows her similar style. Good example of her earlier work.

I really enjoyed A Girl Like Her. Not only was the romance great - a bit of a slow burn but totally worth it, but the relationship between Ruth and her sister was amazing and felt totally realistic. This story was a sweet and sexy romance and still managed to bring in some slightly heavier topics than are typically found in romance, and it was done very well.

Really enjoyed this one. Loved the autism rep.

Aw man... this was really good! A very cute romance. What I appreciate most about this book was the heroine. Ruth is black, mentally-ill, and introverted. She's rude, she's prickly, she doesn't know how to talk to people, she's awkward and clumsy... she's a person, and none of those things make her innately undesirable or are seen as things that she needs to change or regulate to become desirable. She obviously has her flaws, and her introversion makes her do things that aren't always ideal but like... she's black and comics-obsessed and messy and lives in her sleepwear and this handsome doofus of a gentle giant still falls in love with her because she's a good sweet funny person. So many thing sin this book made me smile so much and it was just really nice to read.

(Evan isn't a doofus. He's a good dude. I just care about Ruth a lot more is all.)

Not much plot to speak of, beyond the unravelling of Ruth's story and her history with the town, but I enjoyed that. And I really enjoyed that when the time came for her to confront her past, she was allowed to do it on her own. She told Evan to sit the fuck down and he did, like a good boy.

Honestly, I'd read more het if it was all about prickly gals and cute dudes. 3.5 stars, looking forward to reading more from this author.
