The art is amazing!
I was a bit confused with the story... But that's just me. I'm not familiar with anything before new 52.
Anyways... It's great and art is beautiful!

Classic. Even more complex and clever than I remember.

The fleshing out of Bruce as a person rather than just another cold Dark Knight made this so fantastic. Plus the relationship between catwoman and batman was some of the best I've read in a comic.

While this was a very entertaining and exciting read, I feel like too much was crammed in to one story. I'm not a fan of writers trying to include every single character into one run as it lessens the impact of each appearance and reveal. The ending also felt quite unsatisfying. Also, I could not get over the blatant over-sexualisation of every single woman in this art style. It was very distracting and definitely lessens my enjoyment of the story.

Another edition of DC Compact Comics read and this time it’s the Batman. Having read The Long Halloween and Batman: Haunted Knight.. I really like Jeff Loeb as a Batman writer. The way he tells this story with the bombardment of villians is really good. Felt like a cult classic graphic novel by the end of this read. I can see why it’s recommended a lot. So many good visuals in here. I genuinely would like a movie of this. Animated or not.

I really had a blast revisiting this! I know a lot of big comics fans knock on Loeb these days and dismiss this book as a kind of "greatest hits CD" of a storyline but I actually think that's what I appreciate the most about it now. This book was one of my first major dives into "modern" comic books back when I was a kid and maybe it's mostly the nostalgia talking but I love this as a sort of time capsule of my ideal comics version of Batman and his world. Loeb's take on these characters is so familiar and comfortable, I think he's still way more influential to today's Batman than he gets credit for (and he gets a LOT of credit). Plus reading this after Tom King's run, it's refreshing to see this take on the Batman/Catwoman relationship. Loeb was always one of the best writers of that dynamic and this felt like a culmination of all the good stuff he had done with Tim Sale in the past.
Lots of fun! Managed to recapture some of that magic from when I was a kid.

All-star cast!
Something peculiar seems to be pushing the buttons of every bad guy who has ever hated Batman. One by one, terrifying villains Batman has battled and defeated in the past are hunting down Gotham's superhero once again to finish him at last, empowered by a strange confidence and new skills. Well, at least Batman can count on his friends...maybe. Some of them are acting peculiar, too. Murderous, actually. Oh oh.
In this special collection, everything that we who adore comics and what we adore about Batman comics is included in 'Hush'. I consider this book an uber-Batman series. Plus, stunning art.

Suspension of disbelief is important in any media, especially in one so fantastical and bizarre as superheros.
This one failed to do it in any meaningful way, and despite popular opinion, I think this is one of the weaker Batman comics I've ever read. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't good. It was just there.
In a genre like superheroes, you can't have comics that are just "there", it has to be excellent and worth reading. Comics are very expensive, and Batman's tend to be especially so. This one wouldn't have justified the hypothetical money I would've spent on it had I not checked it out for free from a library.
I also rented the sequel but won't bother with it because this story isn't worth the telling.
