This book is set in two different timelines, following the love story of Will and Elsa, who fell for each other during the World War 1 and Laura, a young woman who dropped out of University who has lost herself.

I found it really hard to finish this. The first few paragraphs were very powerful and had lots of action, however the middle dragged a lot and I found myself skimming through pages to get to the end. There were a lot of pointless scenes and dialogue that didn’t push the storyline forward. It did pick up by about 80% through so I’m glad I did power through.

I really liked aspects of this book. The love story between Will and Elsa is epic and the descriptions of Bath are accurate, I felt as though I was there with them. The science fiction aspect I also enjoyed, you just need an open mind for it.

Overall, I’m glad I picked this book up as I did really like the story but it fell short in some areas which brought my rating down a bit, I had to try really hard to get through the middle.

Not sure I’ve read a book like this before that explores living in different dimensions. It is very cleverly written, carefully crafted tension that actually made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck a few times. It didn’t matter how hard I tried I genuinely couldn’t predict what might happen next, something I think many authors struggle to achieve. The characters are really interestingly written and whilst I found myself sympathetic towards Laura, there is something special about Will that means he is definitely locked into my vault of all time favourite characters.

Many of my favourite books are set during WW2 but this is my first set in Bath. This was a genuinely interesting part of history I knew nothing about and definitely reading more around the ‘Bath Blitz’ is something I will pursue in the future.

My only issue with this book is the final chapter, I felt slightly robbed of a suitable ending for Laura. From other reviews I’ve read since finishing the book, this appears to be a feeling amongst many.

A solid 4 star read that I would happily recommend to others.

I really enjoyed the first 90-95% of the book and was totally absorbed in the characters and story but I loathed the ending. It seemed too confused and convoluted to me and completely at odds with the rest of the book that was so beautifully and sensitively written. This could so easily have been 5* read but that ending has left me feeling dissatisfied and cross. I'm not alone in having mixed feelings about the book although I think many more people loved it all the way through. Read it and see what you think!

Beautiful, moving and not quite what I expected. I really enjoyed this, there were so many layers which were woven together perfectly.

This is my first book by Kieth Stuart and it reminded me of Matt Haig. It is a book about relationships and mental health issues told in a dual timeline. The two main characters Laura and Will are well developed and are brought together as they need each other, the relationship is symbiotic. There are twists and turns throughout and at times one has to question what reality is. The book is descriptive and beautifully written drawing you in, making you feel that you are there. The descriptions of Laura’s anxiety and depression are a tough read, and the ambiguity around the cause kept me guessing The ending is a big disappointment with so many loose ends and the essence of Laura lost. I didn’t fully understand the reasoning throughout the book but certainly enjoyed the journey!

The multiverse explored through Bath during the war and bombs, and 2008 old age. Very well crafted for the most part. The end felt rushed and unsatisfying. Laura, Will and Elsa deserved a better resolution.
