✨What it is about:
After her fiancé dumps her, Lexie throws herself into her secret job, matching up psychopaths. But when a charming client claims they’re soulmates and creepy things start happening (like a human heart showing up at her door), she realizes she might’ve matched with a killer, and she could be next.✨
💭My thoughts:
This was a totally unexpected story, and super fun for me to read. A matchmaker for psychopaths who might’ve accidentally set herself up with a killer? That’s quite the premise, and it delivered some great entertainment. Dark, a little violent, and totally unhinged, it kept me engaged the entire time I was listening to the audio.
The main character is definitely an oddball, and it was a wild ride getting inside her head. Unconventional, high-stakes, and centered around a creepy, unusual job, this story made for a really interesting read. The unreliable characters made everything even more exciting. After all, “love is a dangerous game when your clients are killers…”
🎧 The audiobook is 9 hours and 22 minutes long and narrated by Tasha Coryell, who does a phenomenal job immersing the listener in Lexie’s chaotic world. She expertly captures Lexie’s vulnerability, sarcasm, and fear at just the right moments, and she voices the supporting cast just as well. This audiobook was a pleasure to listen to. I definitely recommend it.

This was so fun. I feel like there’s a subgenre of thrillers that doesn’t have a term (to my knowledge) but it’s a step above a cozy mystery, but it’s below a “thriller” because there’s so much humor. This also had some light social commentary throughout, which is a favorite of mine. This would be a great book for a reading slump because every chapter has a slight cliffhanger or tease moment. It also has that told from the future state element every now and then which gives nice foreshadowing and encourages you to read on. And the ending... ... ... I saw SOME of it coming, but definitely not all of it... and I was CACKLING in the hallway outside of Jes’ gymnastics class. Not a five-star read, but a HELLA fun read.
Some “If you liked” style comparisons: If you liked her first book, this will definitely be up your alley. Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon is also similar in the silly but compulsively readable but also a few really well written lines aspect.
Fun book
Mystery is pretty obvious (and blurb lowkey gives it away), but easy quick read
Where do I find someone like Aidan 🤔
