I received this book as an arc and I am leaving an honest review voluntarily.

Emmy Valencia was born and raised with musicians and recently broke up with one as well. Hoping he would be different, but he wasn't. Alex is cocky, gorgeous, and a heartbreaker. His bandmates seem very friendly with Emmie. Emmie works hard and takes no bull, even from her boss.

The book jumps to Slater's point of view as he loses yet another manager. This seems to be an interesting messed-up family. She is living with her brother, and the band and things are bound to get interesting. But then her brother introduces her to help them get bigger shows.

Skater and Emmie seem to hit it off in the attraction and friendly advice. The chemistry between these two and her being off-limits appears to be burning up the pages. They are friendly and definitely notice the attraction but will they do something about it. After all, Emmie knows she doesn't want to date a rockstar. Slater knows she is leaving soon to go back to New York.

Emmie really is the girl next door compared to the walking model that is Slater. She makes a decision that definitely changes her future and helps the band shift theirs. I like that this book is before the fame of being a rockstar. This book gets super steamy. It seems they struggle to be ordinary people and also rockstars at the same time. Unfortunately, the world comes crashing down for her and Slater. Will they fight for each other?

Surprise, a happy ending and one I didn't see coming, but I hoped for. What will become of this band? You may want to read the other books in this series.

I loved that this story started before the band was famous. I loved the bonding that happened when Derek's sister moved in. I love how the rockstars defended Emmie. I love that this book also included finding yourself and doing what you want for yourself, not others in the theme. I love the super-steamy romance between Emmie and Slater. I also loved how it was a very emotional read. You really connected to the characters and their fears and joy. When things started to happen, I loved that they talked as a team of brothers and not just a band. This author wrote an endearing story that I'm sure many upcoming musicians can relate to, maybe not all the romance. Still, that storyline definitely interested me as a reader. This book is full of off the pages chemistry, amazing lyrics, and heartfelt discussions.

I was looking for another Rockstar Romance series and this one kept popping up on lots of lists. I liked both Slater and Emmie right away and liked the dual narration here. I appreciated the different approach of them getting together when the band is popular on a local scene but they aren't signed yet. It added a new layer and helped it stand out from the others in the group. The other members of the band are interesting too, but they aren't fully fleshed out as much as they could be. I had a lot of questions about the other members in the band besides Slater and Derek--they seem to make some odd choices.

The build up and banter in this is excellent until about 70% through the book, and then it isn't as compelling anymore. The book definitely had all the elements to keep me hooked, but the ending wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be. The pacing felt a bit off as well. In the beginning, we spend almost too much time telling instead of showing and I felt like the book was too long there. There could have been some more editing to combat this, especially since then the last chunk of the book felt like there were parts missing.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and the band of characters (no pun intended), even though there were some things that I found inconsistent. I plan to read at least the next book since it's about her brother and Derek was such a wonderful character, both as Slater's best friend and as Emmie's brother.

Tropes: m/f; super hot recovering man whore trying-to-make it Austin, Texas rocker meets organized intelligent music business savvy New York female; slow burn--there's A LOT of sexual tension while we wait for the sexy times; crude language and sexy goodness; friends to lovers; roommates--oh my god they're roommates; dealing with bad relations with parents; she was cheated on in the past and is trying to find her sexy; romance with the brother's best friend--he's in a band with her brother; scenes featuring drugs and others having sex--witnessing the band go wild for a time; manipulation from an outside party threatens their lurve--no physical cheating, though emotions are involved.

Heat rating: HOT—sex scenes throughout with explicit language, which adds to the overall story and relationship.

YOU REALLY GOT ME is an enthralling story about a band on the cusp of success. Slater Vaughn is the lead singer for the country/rock band Snatch. He’s a handsome multi talented singer and songwriter with incredible stage presence, soulful eyes and women constantly falling all over him. Emmie Valencia has worked in the music business for years helping artists pursue their dreams and she is now helping Slater and his band. Emmie has many connections in the business and she instinctively knows how to help Snatch get to the next level and achieve the success they are looking for. Emmie’ is also ready for some changes in her own life, but is apprehensive and isn’t exactly sure what she wants. She loves working in the crazy cut throat music business, but she will never get personally involved with musicians, because they only break your heart.

This is a fascinating story with well developed characters. It kept me on the edge of my seat and managed to hit all my emotions. Slater is a sex god, but as the story develops, we learn he has many facets to his personality. Behind his façade he’s a warm, sensitive, caring guy who happens to be very talented. He helps Emmie with her self esteem issues and as she gains back her confidence, a friendship develops between them, but they are both afraid of relationships. I cared about Slater and Emmie and wanted them to work through their problems, because whenever Slater and Emmie are in the same room together, there’s a lot of heat between them.

Swooning for Slater!

I loved this book! I love that there was so much depth to Emmie and Slater. So often in "rocker" books it's just a fast superficial story. I loved the backstory on both Slater AND Emmie. Loved how well they fit together. With everything they went through, Slater didn't falter once from his path to his Emmie. Can't wait to read Derek's book!

I loved this book! I just loooove the kinds of books about a self-proclaimed playboy rockstar who doesn’t do commitment and the girl he can’t have (and especially when she’s his bandmate’s sister)…that’s my kind of read. There was so much wonderful build-up and I loved Slater so much.

Emmie is the daughter of a famous musician who felt the music world was better than his family, and she has always worked so hard to gain his approval or for him to even notice her. It’s because of that that she has worked as a personal assistant to Irwin who runs Amoeba Records. And by personal assistant, I mean that she’s been at his beck and call for over eight years. She’s always dreamed of actually being something, and being someone in the musical industry. It’s this tug on her soul that makes her decide to take a break from her job, and help her brother’s band. It also helps her get away from her slimeball ex who is a rocker and cheated on her, so she doesn’t have a very high opinion of rockstars (which is warranted given her situation). She also completely loses her self-confidence and image of herself. So she flies out to Austin, Texas to her brother’s house and there she meets Slater. The GQ-lookalike lead singer of Snatch.

Slater Vaughn is the lead singer, and he is everything. He has the sex appeal times 100, the charisma, the stage presence that has women tripping over themselves to be near him. His passion is writing songs and being a part of this band. He is so against failure because of how overbearing his rockstar father was, that he would do anything to make this band successful. Including dirtying up his image. Slater was the man with the played-up image. He wore this image as a barrier and it isn’t until he meets Emmie that he can’t help but drop that mask. They become friends, and in that time he changes. He grows. He becomes who he should be. I loved who he was and what he became, not just for her, but for him. She helped him heal, and he did the same for her.

It was sweet, it was hot, it was sexy, and it was really well written. I fully enjoyed this story, and seeing both Emmie and Slater grow was incredibly enjoyable. (And I hate, hate, hate, Piper, by the way!). The story drew me in and kept me there completely. You will want Slater and Emmie to be together because they are two torn souls needing to be together again. And I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.

I wasn't too sure about this book to start with, but by the end I really loved it, It's not my usual type of rock star romance in that compared to some other books out there, this is pretty tame. I loved the guys of snatch especially Slater, but it took me a while to warm up to Emmie. I think this is partly because I found the first half of the book quite slow, with little real action just a lot of angst on Emmies part however the second half of the book more than makes up for it and my opinion of Emmie changed for the better. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good rock star romance, that is more of a slow build than full on heart pounding hot from the very beginning. I will also be looking out for the next book in the series, when it's released in July.
