Debt by Nina G. Jones was an amazing and fast-paced ride that had me from the very beginning. Mia and Tax's relationship is one that readers need to suspend reality for and just enjoy the way the story unfolds down a dark and twisted journey. As a warning, several of the scenes can be triggering for some readers and involve intense violence and explicit sex, and is recommended for mature readers who can handle the relationship between the characters. I would recommend this book for fans of adult and contemporary reading.
After such a long time, i read a dark romance which isn’t predictable. I loved it so much. It was dark, unpredictable & raw
I was not expecting the path this story took. If you are used to read romance, Debt is nothing like the books you read before.
In order to fulfill her darkest fantasy, Mia hires a man to "attack" her. It all goes well, but then Mia learns that the man who "attacked" her wasn't from the agency she had hired 😱 Tax loathes Mia. He wants revenge for the harm she caused 14 years ago, so he takes advantage of the "attack" Mia ordered. Thus begins an unforgettable journey.
This book is crack. It is insanely addictive and it's going to haunt me forever 🤯 It's extremely dark and steamy; all the trigger warnings for this one. A part of me feels guilty for loving this book, but it is actually so well-written. I was 💯 invested from the start until the end. I couldn't stop reading.
Tax's transition from hate to love is so well-written that it actually feels natural. What I love the most is that Tax falls in love with Mia despite believing that she's to blame for what happened 14 years ago. He's able to see and feel her kindness in the present time and falls in love with her in the process.
This is obviously a dark romance, but it is also surprisingly romantic. There are some really touching and tender moments between Tax and Mia, the kind that I did not expect in such a dark book as this one. The author has managed to write a hero who's simultaneously cruel and loving. I seriously didn't expect the emotional depth AT ALL.
There is so much meat to the revenge plot. It's easy to figure out what exactly happened 14 years ago, but omg the author's writing is so good that I actually felt the shame, the self-loathing, and the betrayal that Tax felt. The storyline takes such a wild turn in the final act. I'm still shook over what happened 💀 The climax is so intense that I questioned whether we'd be getting a HEA 🤯
Not to worry, there is a HEA. They live happily ever after and while the HEA was a relief, it was also kind of heartbreaking because of everything that played out in the climax. Yes, they end up together, but they don't really get to heal together. Or at least, we don't get to see them heal together on page.
This book will stay with me for a long time. It is haunting and unforgettable. And I'm not sure if I'll ever read another story like this one again.

Retaliation, an eye for an eye, making sure everyone involved suffers, a debt that must be paid in full. This is the way Tax and Jude have lived their lives, never being from the right place, born into a situation they had no control over, when you have no choices but to survive you decide retribution is the only way to win back the upper hand.
Knowing that there is something missing in the debt that Tax is seeking to avenge, you go along with the story finding that their fucked-up-ness is somehow strangely beautiful. This is not a fairytale of the regular kind, no fair maiden or prince charming here…instead you find a woman that hasn’t found her true self, and the darkest prince…together these two can help each other find not only love for each other but forgiveness and redemption.
Lines are crossed, not knowing anymore what is good, bad, hideous or painstakingly deserved. As a reader you are inclined to believe the man should be romantic, you may need to re-define your perception with Tax…he is a bossy, arrogant, possessive, completely broken, hell bent on making those that hurt his family pay with everything. But at the end of the day…a relationship that began innocently many years ago is at the heart of who HE is.
You know what happened is coming, with trips back to 14 years prior but nothing can prepare for what two kids from the “wrong side” of the tracks have to endure…no covering your eyes for this one…and after it’s all said and done, you relieve the victims of the crimes they committed seeking justice. One by one they fall…
Loved this book…the writing, being able to make something so wrong…somehow feel right to the characters…and a love that is so completely raw it consumes them and you.

Our blog received this book for review as part of its blog tour ( http://byobookclub.blogspot.com ) and initially I was not the one who was supposed to read it.
Well...

To the person who was supposed to because I REALLY liked this book.
I'm not really sure what I expected but what I was not expecting was the roller-coaster of craziness that was this book.
This is dual POV book where we get inside the minds of Mia and Tax. Mia is the good girl. She was born on the "right-side" of the tracks. She was loved, had friends, was popular, went to a good college and has a good job. She is strong willed and always puts on a happy face for everyone to see. BUT deep down she has this need to not be strong, to not be the one that people look up to. So for one night she decides she is going to give into this need and be dominated in ways she has only secretly fantasized about.
Then there is Tax. He is not a good person, he grew up on the opposite side of the tracks and has let his thirst for vengeance rule over his life. While that vengeance has has made him successful it has broken his soul. He has one more task, one more debt to collect before he finally is at the end of his mission. BUT this one last thing ends up complicating matters beyond anyone's expectations.
There is a lot that is going on in this book. There is the back story that will eventually get you to understand the motivation behind Tax's vengeance. There are two very different characters at war with themselves over the situation they find themselves in. There is explosive chemistry and dirty, kinky sex. There are even some secondary characters that add additional depth and messed-up-ness to the mix. Did I mention the dirty, kinky sex???
This book went places I didn't expect. It grabs you by the hair, holds on tight, slaps you around, f*cks with you, and just when you think you will come down for a breather, you don't. You go through it all over again only the second time, you get f*cked with harder. Just thinking about it again, I need to shake myself out of the daze. This book is not pretty, it is not nice and doesn't make you feel happy. It is raw, gritty, kinky, rough around the edges, and oh so good.
