Good vacation or corona-shut-in read

As a stay-at-home-mom and substitute teacher, I found a lot of Amy's initial mindsets frustrating. But trauma is trauma, so I don't mean to judge how she deals with that, and she comes through with the right balance in the end. It was just sitting at times to read about her getting there. I really enjoyed Daniel's Latin jokes and had a hard time with everyone urging her towards casual sex, so maybe I'm too much of a need to fully appreciate the book about nerds. But it was a lot of fun, and the perfect read for right now.

I picked this as my Amazon First Reads book without knowing much about it and liked it much more than I expected. I thought the story was pretty original and, while I think it could have used a bit more editing, it was a good balance of rom-com and drama.

This was light read for me, and while there were things that annoyed me, overall I enjoyed it. It was fun, a little ridiculous, a little over the top, but it was a nice escape. And man, now I miss NYC again.

3.25 stars... A good, quick read; some of it is unrealistic, and all the loose ends tied up nicely with no real surprises, but I don't need a book to always be like real life. It's a good beach read, and for me it was a perfect break after reading a very good, but long and heavy historical novel.

I don’t normally read or love romance books but this was entertaining and heartwarming. I enjoyed the flirty nerdy banter between Amy and Daniel. The plot was overall predictable but still fun to listen to. I’m not a mom and perhaps would relate to it more if I were but at times I found her motherhood martyrdom trite and annoying. She was selfish and her friendship felt one sided. Talia (her single, New York career woman bff) and Lena (her single, lesbian, ex-nun bff) were breaths of fresh air and my favorite characters.
