At first I was wary of reading this since the synopsis was so vague, but it was totally worth the read. One thing this book is not is smut. There is no raunchy cheesiness that most contemporary/new age romances have. However, it is definitely a romance, and probably the best one I've read to-date.

Lucy and Graham are definitely opposites, but that's what makes their story so appealing. I love how Lucy feels everything and Graham, not so much. Lucy is the kind of person I would like to be she is open an honest, and somehow her being her she's able to warm Graham up. She reminds us that we ourselves are enough, which I think we forget sometimes. I love her quirky "hippie stuff".

It sounds cliche, I know, but I cannot deny how well written this book is. How much passion there is between the two main characters. I love how well developed the other characters are (the sisters, Oliver, Mary) everyone's role is significant and most importantly complete.

I would give more stars if I could. This book is a bit on the emotional side, but I think that's what happens with works that are real and so relatable.

I will definitely be reading the other books in this series, which I have been told can be read as stand alone novels.

2.5 stars. It was a decent romance, her estranged sister abandons her husband and baby and Aunt Lucy steps in to help and guess who she falls for?!

Super weird that the other sister was such a B, giving Lucy a hard time about helping with her niece...when she's totally fine never meeting the kid....um, ok?

I feel terrible giving it three stars but this one can’t compare to the other three books in the series. I just didn’t really feel the connection in this book like I did the others.

It was still a beautiful story and I think if I spaced out the reads I may have enjoyed it more but I was comparing my feelings on this book and the other three and it didn’t make me feel anywhere near the same :(

I just didn’t really care for the story tbh. There were some parts that were incredibly hooking but some parts fell really flat. Plus this was quite the slow burn. 79% and the finally kissed? Idk just didn’t have the same spark as her other books :(

reread 1/26/20: same feelings as the first time!

the good
The best way to describe this book would be like a really sugary glass of tea. Warm & comforting, but also too sweet and not filling. I will say I was honestly amazed at how much i HATED Graham at the start of this, and how quickly the author was able to switch my opinion of him. He is a sweet lil grizzly bear who needs a hug. And I also really liked how Lucy was free spirited yet didn't let people walk all over her. They really were a great match, and I love their shared love of
Spoilertalon
.

the bad
We get flashbacks throughout the story from Graham's childhood but we never see him opening up to Lucy about it or really any sort of communication between them on their pasts. And I don't think this would have bothered me so much if this was the case in the rest of Cherry's books, but it just isn't. She tends to do a pretty good job at keeping her books short and incorporating enough reconciliation of trauma to make her resolutions believable. Additionally, the antagonist of the story is kind of unbelievably horrible but only causes problems for all of 2 seconds.
SpoilerI'm supposed to believe your dumb ass comes back to see your child after abandoning her & then you're gonna leave like 2 seconds letter? hm.
Overall, I enjoyed this book but it probably won't stick with me.

Somehow I jumped from the first book in this series to the end but it was so phenomenal I don't care (and yes I will be reading the middle books now). I was looking for something deeper than the typical romcom or borderline erotica and am so glad I chose the gravity of us. This book is one of those that resonates on a deeper level, that you remember months after reading it because the characters are so real and their struggles and triumphs become your struggles and triumphs. I had NO idea where the story was going when I started it and I'm glad I didn't, do yourself a favor and just completely immerse yourself in Lucy and Graham's world, you will not regret it!

It was amazing. I may have cried for like five chapters in a row, but heartfelt books always get me.

"Sometimes when your heart wanted a full-length novel, the world only gave you a novella, and sometimes when you wanted forever you only had those few seconds of now."

GODDAMN. Brittainy Cherry did it once more. I love, love, love, this book. Everything about it. I love how Brittainy writes her story raw and heartbreakingly beautiful. I love Graham and Lucy. I love Graham's growth and him coming back to life through Lucille and Talon. Lucille is such an admirable character. It might be cliché but I really like stories about broken men. Graham had a hard life and had a lot of trust issues. Reading how he started to warm up and how his heart started to beat again made my heart so happy too. There were tears shed while reading this book but damn, it was all worth it.

Damn, I just freakin' love it! Brittainy never fails to amaze me with her works!

This is one of those romance novels that just grabs your heart in a vise and doesn’t let go until it’s over. Who am I kidding? I’m still thinking about this book. I loved this book, and I really wasn’t expecting too. Brittainy C. Cherry is one of those romance novels that I always like, so I’m always willing to pick up her next book but the last “romance” novel that made me feel like this was In Between Here and the Horizon which I did a review on earlier this year. I’ve read alot of books between now and then, and this is one that I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to gush about.

Lucille is just a wonderful character, and I know she’s a crazy hippie and is too emotional, but that’s part of her charm. She also knows it, she’s not naive she just doesn’t want to waste her time being negative and unhappy. I can’t fault her for that, at times it’s annoying, but so is her opposite in this book. Graham is too dark and melancholy and I can’t deny that he gets the right to be, but part of this book is how to grow past that. Lucy gets to learn how to not let people take advantage of her, and Graham gets to learn how to let people in.

The secondary characters were also absolutely brilliant, and I loved them all. Mari made me want to hug her, applaud her commitment to her sister, and at the end pull her hair out. She does come around though, and I can understand her actions here. It doesn’t make them right, it just makes my heart break for her. Professor Oliver was also fantastic, and it made me wish for my very own kooky, optimistic old man back. The writing in this book was emotional and gripping. I clearly pictured what each of the characters were going though even Lyric, although I still think she’s a terrible person. 5 out of 5 stars.
