I greatly enjoyed this series so, when I started the third book, I knew I had to take a deep breath and ready myself. I tend to not love the way trilogies end but, after reading A Sorrow Fierce and Falling, I feel content in how Henrietta's tale came to an end.
Throughout the series, I found myself going, "I know she's trying to save the country and everything but ~wHo DoEs ShE lOvE~!?" This book, in my opinion, did a fantastic job explaining her several different types of love towards others, especially how they started and then ended. There were cliches and parts I found myself eager to skip over, but overall I think the romance was wrapped up well.
And oh, the action. I really enjoy how Cluess writes a plan then brings you through all of the ways it did and didn't work. I'm not typically one for action and battle but found that this book had a good balance of the details needed to move the story forward without being too stuck on any fight or scene for too long.
All in all, I enjoyed the end to this trilogy and this book as a story of its own.

This, overall, was such a letdown in comparison to the first two. Honestly, the only reason I finished this was because I was in a car for two hours and this was the only book I could read.
There was about 150 in the second half of the middle that was actually pretty good, and the ending conclusion with Rh'lem was satisfying, but that was about it. I disliked so much of this, and the ending with Blackwood made me legit angry. The epilogue kind of made up for it a little, but there was no reason for the end to be how it was and it honestly ruined any enjoyment I'd had from the climax.
Magnus is a sweetie, though, and he continues to be the light in this series.

Oh this was actually a really sweet but not "too clean" of an ending! I loved all the reveals and challenges to the status quo that came out. My only real beef with it was I think Blackwood's character was changed a bit. His actions and words didn't seem like the same person as books 1 & 2
Really, the beginning of the book threw me for a loop - it seemed like I'd missed a few months of character development, which the author explained by saying she had been at Sorrow-Fell for a hot minute. I know why it was that way, but then the treatment of Blackwood and Howel's relationship gets sent through a wringer, both in emotional and physical terms. Also, the slut shaming annoyed me, even if it became a sticking point for the author; I know, the historical accuracy, the characterization of Blackwood, blah blah blah. Thank God for Magnus.
In terms of plot wrap up, specific to William and Henrietta, I am really all for how that turned out (just can't spoil it for everyone). Rook and Henrietta, I am completely aghast - that was the easy way out.
Overall a satisfactory conclusion to the series.

I don’t even know where to start. This book was all over the place.
For starters, Henrietta was so..weird. Her emotions were all over the place. Throughout the entire series, I could never tell what she was feeling. Every one of her actions was an element of surprise.
Blackwood... sigh. I liked him the most, but even then he had some major flaws. (Like unforgivable and unforgettable major flaws)..I am not going to talk about him because I’m still mad.
Magnus..ah the character with the big character development. I saw that coming from the very beginning. Very predictable character.
And I didn’t even like rook. I thought that the whole childhood love thing was forced. (Most things in this story seemed forced.)
Also, Maria was a bada- she deserves more story.
The story, I thought, was good. It kept me engaged. I wanted to keep reading it and I didn’t want it to end. Which explains the 3 stars.
Overall, I hated it and I absolutely loved it.
If you have enough patience to sit through a book like this, then please read.
